What colour is it again?:D :D
220bhp the eternal optimist, unless its my car we're dealing with:eek:
according to the ND catalogue it should be about 260 at the fly with similar mods. Whats the transmission loss again...
212
but only coz of the sticker :)

Tonnie nicked my guess so I'll go 208bhp@wheels, as long as you're running 18psi.

Hi Mike
i'd guess 217bhp
i'm assuming the winning guess can be over the actual?
do you round up or down?
just checking.
oh by the way good luck & have fun,
cheers
kenny
I guess 225 @ wheels. I think you might be pleasently surprised as my old 2***** made 200 @ wheels on 15psi with a spec very similar to Mike's.
Id say 210@ wheels cos u were less powerfull than me at crail, but not by much, and now uve upped the psi by 3, and cos jonny took 205

Sorry, ok then, how about 212?

216 if it's not already gone?
I was reading this thread really confused until I saw it's on an S13 - for some reason I assumed an S14, and then I saw the 190bhp guestimate at the wheels - with 18psi (then I checked)!

Dear Nova driver,
It has come to my attention that you think rolling roads are accurate to within 0.1 bhp. Apparently you need serious therapy....
yes, you can have 211.3 or any other number not taken...
...the sweep will close shortly before I've had too much to drink. Then tomorrow it's orf to the rollin' road I go :D :D :D
Good luck mate, and try not to kill it.
Ive to sort any conflicts........ hee hee hee hee.

Gee!
I don't necessarily believe it, but the operator said my car had "more power than my machine can handle"! His machine went up to 240bhp at the wheels. So the verdict is 240bhp at wheels and 240/0.85 = 280bhp at the flywheel (18psi boost).
I'll be e-mailing Kev the printout for verification and I've got it all on video so next time at Crail you can see it...
Gee - PM me your address and I'll pop your chq in the post!
BIG SMILES :) :D ;) :p

Mike thats impressive no wonder you keep beating Kev:D :D
How much oil you going through?
I'm losing it out the turbo but unless your behind me you couldnt notice it, found out when someone behind me's headlights lit up the smoke. Not alot of smoke at first but over the months its got more noticable and you can now see it when I boot it in daylight.
Thanks guys.....
I should get to STAR RR and cross-check the figures because 280bhp at fly sounds too good to be true! But, for the moment, I'm well chuffed and the car seems to run much nicer now I'm at 18psi boost with the JezII and Powerflow exhaust fitted. FYI the rr guy said ratio of fly to wheels is 100/85 ie 15% losses.
..I must be loosing the oil thru the exhaust (rings? turbo?). I also see smoke in headlights of following cars. Use about 1/5th of a normal oil container every month. Probably not too bad.
Good results mike, time to go to a better RR though!
Hail to the T25's :D
what gear did he do the run in Mike
tmmollah

I'm might just go for a T25H
All you guys with a T25H get pretty fast times, Mike - 14.6 (will be faster now you got the exhaust fitted)
Gee - 14.2
Dunc - 14.9 with a normal T25
I'm loosing faith in the T28
Dunc,
Where were you gonna get you T25 re-conditioned from to turn it into a Hybrid?
Problem is Tonnie, im the only one with a T28 thats ran at crail(Dobergoose hasnt run yet), and i cant drive these things properly.
Dunc will tell u that the T28 comes in totally differantly from the T25, its a differant way of driving it, which i havent mastered yet.
Look at the English boys times with standard T28, im sure Steve c was posting around 13.6 or sommat.
Mike, i dunno how much mine is running atm cos its had a few changes since the rr in aug when it was 206@wheels, but i dont reckon its as much as 230.
Id be surprised if ur extra 3psi made that much differance, so it leads me to think, as u do, that its read high.
For anyone that wants to see Mikes graph:-

Its a .gif by the way, so open with image preview
Kev
Vibrio dunno what gear, possibly third. The guy had a clipboard and set the engine rpm at 1000 rpm intervals between 2000 and 6000 and wrote down the power (the graph on the printout is misleading). His spreadsheet converted wheels to fly by dividing by 0.85.
I agree with Kev - the T28 MUST give more power than a T25H when set up... Logic says there's no way my engine has 280bhp even though I got a video of the needle going off the scale of his machine! But I tell you it was great fun yesterday and the noise from the Powerflow was (IMHO) unbeatable! Even the wise seasoned experienced mechanic who had seen it all before had a smile on his face when he'd done the tests.... (and the turbo was positively glowing)
Put my name down at Star Performace on 13th April then we'll see the relative powers of all or cars on the same machine...
But for the moment I'm basking in my 280bhp glory...

In regards to T25/T28's IMO the t25's seem to be a bit better for getting starts but they wouldn't touch a T28 at higher speeds, obviously the T28 cars can get good starts once mastered.
As for my tubby choice, I'm going for Dai boy's second hand T25 but did find a guy who could get a T25H for £300 with a good warranty on it. I'll get the details if you are interested.
Dunc.
Well done Mike:D
I thought you might be surprised with your results.
Surely this year we are gonna see some peeps break the into the 13s at Crail.

So how much will a 2nd hand T28 cost me?
How hard are they to fit? I've taken the turbo out of my car plenty of times, so it shouldnt be too much of a problem for me.
Will I ned a fitting kit?

Do a search on the forums mate. There is shit loads about it on here, not much modification required, and the prices on the T28 will vary on what you go for. I won't be supprised if you find a decent second hand T28 at a breakers for £200

done in 3rd will give more power than 4th due to the lower gear ratio.

Kev, since we're all agreed, do you concur with the 240bhp at the wheels and can Gee get his money? Perhaps we should do a sweep for 13/4 at STAR?
Mike id not be entirely confident about the bhp figure, but thts not wat the question was.
It was how much ud get on this rr, which was shown as 240@wheels so Gee wins.
