Me in the 2***** sat behind a big tractor with loads of kit hanging off the back.

Had to wait for the right moment to go round the tractor due to lack of forward vision and cars coming the way. Road was curvy, too.

I was sat in second and when the moment came I absolutely floored it (the only way I was ever going to make progress).

I couldn't believe it when the donkey in the dark blue Laguna behind me (with family on board) went too

There was NO WAY he was going to make it - if I'd been in the 2***** in his position I wouldn't have gone, it was that much of a no-hoper.

I don't think he made contact with another vehicle (just) but there were a lot (and I mean A LOT) of horns blowing plus flashing of lights......

Let me be blunt: a family saloon car is NOT going to keep up with a Jap sports coupe, no matter what registration it is. New does not mean fast......

Or am I the only person in the world who has sussed this?

PS I think it's just great that Plod concentrate on speeding and f*ck all else:rolleyes:

Lots of people assume that if the person in front of them can go then they can just follow as well, wrong move. That boy was a bit of a tit.

There's tractors round here all the time  , and dangerious situations usually result.

Dunc.

I get that alot. People see me in my H-reg 200and compare it to a smoking lemon (Escort or similar). But no they can not keep up in there new cars not even fast new cars are as good as the classics. More things to take away there power like aircon, abs and electrical gadgets.

The more equipment your car has the more HP it eats especially Air-con.

Happens all the time unfortunately. Then the government claim that the accidents caused by this kind of idiocy are due to speed and put up more revenue generating cameras. In fact, accidents like this are down to twatish behavior. When was the last time you saw a camera designed to catch twats?

Just to redirect the convo a bit - from the tractor drivers point of view.....

My last job was a tractor driver, used to drive a john deere 6810 if that means anything to anyone! It was +3m wide with the huge tyres we fitted on it, and the stuff people used to do in a last ditch, despirate attemt to get in front of you.

Picture this:

Its 10:00pm, very dark, and i am doing ~30mph with 12tonne of grain in a trailer, total weight ~20tonnes, 3m wide and god knows how long. Going along a duel carrage way, loads of lights on flashing things etc, get to the point where the duel carrage way goes to a single road. This had to be the point when every one caught up didnt it, and they are all despirately trying to get past, nearly to the point where i have to swerve, which aint easy in them things to stop the tractor from rolling over their bonnet!

YOUR PLAYING WITH SOMTHING THE SIZE OF A MONSTERTRUCK, AND TWICE THE WEIGHT!

Anyway, just thought i would share that with you......:D

So yes, anyone who goes to overtake something like that when they are not sure is daft, imagine what would have happened to that car, and the family in it if it was forced in front of the tractor.......

(soz for any spelling mistakes, cant be arsed to check......)
