Internet translation programs

Has anyone ever tried any of the translation packages that handle English-Japanese and vice versa? I'm talking about programs like Systran and the like. I've been persisiting with the Babelfish one you get on Altavista, but while ludicrous Engrish/Japlish translation are funny for a couple of days, it tends to get a bit annoying thereafter. Are the translations better quality and more accurate with a dedicated program doing the translation? I only ask because Systran have a special offer on that runs out in a couple of days, and I'm wondering if it'd be worth wasting some cash on. Any ideas?
