View Full Version : S13 1/4 mile time info needed
I know the answer to this depends on a number of other factors (mainly tyres) but how much power do you need to break the 13 second barrier in an CA18DET powered S13? without expensive LSD's or slicks
cheers

With a decent driver, vlsd and some decent road rubber at a nice pressure stage 2 will break into the 13's comfortably...
Seen quite a few s13's at about 280+bhp run 13.5's and lower.....

hi mate im guessing uve been looking at the pro street drag series then ive entered this and after asking the same question basicly everyone was saying stage 2 about 280bhp plus some dcent tyres and lots of weight saving should see u in the 13 sec mark .thats what im aiming for :thumbs:i managed a 15.1 with a pretty standard car with loads of weight chucked away .o and lots of pratice lol:thumbs:
i thought it was all about the 60ft time?
bodders we miss you come back
i've just been looking at a few drag events and generally if you're running 13 seconds or better you need a far more comprehensive cage, so i was wondering if this would apply
Waaaaay back in the day Barry Caleieieieieni used to hold the board record with a 13.3 and he had about 330 bhp, no fancy tyres and no lightening. Theoretically is should be possible with 280ish as I believe an S14 managed a 12.x with 280 a couple of years ago :)

its all in getting off the line, saving ureself 0.1 sec in the first 60ft multiplies to getting up to 0.6 of ure terminal time. i know some FWD boys that are passing in the very low 13s and only passing at 90mph so they dnt have much power but are making it up with being light and getting off the line very well. if ure a first timer to the strip generally aim to do the the first 60ft in 2.2ish seconds, if u can do that ure ok, then go for quicker and quicker passes off the 60ft, once ure hitting sub 2.0 ure getting good and it will be showing in ure times. practice is the only thing that you need, soft rear suspension setup and half decent tyres. mind when i pulled a 12.7 i had odd rear tyres, silly camber and not much tread as id been using them for drifting lol
See my sig. 246.7 bhp for a 13.891s @ 103.4mph (Santa Pod).
Shite tyres, lots of practice. Lots of 14.0xx runs beforehand. Was getting just over 2 secs 60ft.

Do you mean under 13? or 13.999?
My cars not setup for drag, but for track, this makes it hard to launch and as a driver I cant launch for Toffee, but with ~350bhp (running 1.2 bar) I managed a 13.04

i've done a gtech test run on a local abandoned road :D
195/55/15 winter tyres, open diff, 0 degress outside, a little damp where i picked the spot to launch and didn't fully release the handbrake in 1st :p
0-60 mph 6.5s (got 5.3 with stage 2 with the same tyres in july but didn't complete the 1/4 mile run), 1/4 mile ET 14.65 @ 111.5mph :wack:
My is stage3
The first time at santa pod i got 14.5 1/4 mile at 99.3 mph,but if you get a good start you can get in the 13 teens.my start was slow +1.0161 to busy watching mate and forgot about the lights going green LOL

Reaction time isn't included in the final time. Time starts when your car leaves the stage & the light beam reconnects. That's why you'll see silly power vehicles let the other vehicle get to the 1/8th before letting rip & killing it with a 10 ;)
14.5 @ 99.3 is slow for "Stage 3" :(

my cars stage one very stripped out and i did a 15.1 @92m.p.h.with a 2.4 60 ft time but with a 0.8 reaction time i think with a better reaction i could have done a high 14sec still more pratice needed lol

I did read the thread, what's your point? You inferred that your time was affected by your slow reaction, the 1/4 doesn't work like that :)
Didn't mean to offend either yourself or your car, LOL.
