Hello,

I returned in one piece...:)
Took us ages to get down there, but it was worth it:D
There is a bit of disappointing news, the turbo is going:( blue smoke at a cold start up.. But I had a mate to check the turbo and its a T25?? (Starionman is that right?) I thought it would be a T28 since its a 2L????
The power steering is a bit sketchy... at high speeds;)
But get this,
The car has every MOT since the factory, it has full service history and has had loads of things changed since this lady has owned it.
72,000 on the clock and is working sweet:D :D
I didnt have time to change the oil, because I didnt get down there til 11, and I needed to get back to Rochester, Kent before 3!
so I chucked a bit of Slick 50 and some decent oil (that she provided) and chanced it on the way home..
It was sweet on the motorway home, no problems at all:D :D

Petrol consumption is ok, the car already had half a tank, and that got me home.:)

I did have a little scare tho, I was at a junction turning right and I pulled away a little too quick and you can guess what happened.
It was a little scary, and I wont be doing anything like that 4 a while!!

But the accerelation is brilliant. I went onto to my *private runway* and before I knew it, I was doing 125mph in 4th gear..:D

But I am extremely chuffed...:D :D :D :D :D

Its a bit of a mess at the mo, but this weekend I have a few of my mates coming over and we are going to polish everything up..
Once that has been done, and I have some money again, I will post up some pics of the car.

Its a C reg, and it has EX on the side of the car.

Starionman, we have to meet up!!!!!

Cheers,

Tim

*does little dance*

Fantastic mate :)

T25... Hmm... I'm not entirely certain that this is stock factory... I think it might be an upgrade... would have to check tho.
Mine smoked a bit, put a recon on. Smoking again now :( But if you haven't got too much play it can stay for a little while.

Half a tank? How many miles did you have to do? Sound suspiciously like you've got one that has a decent fuel economy... Mine does 200-250 to a tank :(

All sounds superb tho :) Why do I keep finding cars that made my original bargain seem overpriced???? LOL

What colour is it?

TAS

LOL:)

Its Silver.

Coming back I did about 140-150 miles, not exactly sure, and I was no way nr the red. plus I did boot it quite alot on the way home:D
I tell ya what tho, I am really chuffed... I think I have found myself the car of the year.

How about making a poll in the general area.
Car of the Year??

Coz I am sure I would win it:p :D

When I get paid (next friday) I am going to flush the oil, replace the pump and give it a nice clean:)
This weekend is going to be quite fun tho. I have a 15in Sub going in, alphine head unit and 6 cd changer and some GTO 6 by 9's. so the stereo is sorted. then

LET THE MODDING COMMENCE:D :D :D :D :D :D

That is one hell of a lot of miles on half a tank...
More than anyone else I know can manage in fact...
Hopefully your guage is right - tho be warned, when you next run it you might have nothing registering!!!!

I can't wait to see it. Has it got the power bulge bonnet?

TAS

Na, like you said. normal bonnet... I would have prefered to have the turbo bonnet, but I was not going to make a fuss;)

Na, the petrol is fine, I drove it home from Gravesend (my mate who came with me lives there) and the petrol guage doesnt mess up at all.
In the dash, it has a Oil temp, Water Temp, Boost Guage, a battery guage, and the usual (speedo, Rev counter, etc)
Its got AC (I think) eletric windows, all lights work everywhere including the lights in the dash. The only thing that doesnt work are the washers for the lights. But I think a top up of water is needed to fix that.

There is some kind of oily substance on the back seat in the middle, but that is getting sorted tomorrow.

One thing that I dont understand tho... On the Starion Owners Club, it says that upgrading the turbo to a T3 or a T25 as fitted to Escort Cosworth's... Are the Starion Turbo different to other turbo charged cars, coz a T3 is bigger than a T25.. and I have never heard of a T25 being fitted to a Escort Cosworth:confused:

Over the weekend, I am going to have a "Proper" look in the engine bay and see if I can find out more info. Do you know what size the standard turbo is?

Oh yeah check this link...

LOL:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Cheers,

Tim

OK, if you've got AC then I'm having a tantrum

It shouldn't have it buy all rights - that was only fitted to the 2.6 US as far as I know... Hmm...

Otherwise leccy windows are standard.

ATM neither my windscreen nor lamp washers work as my motors are dead I think. Cheap to replace but a bugger to get to. :( Get it done when the clutch is done I think - I can't be a$$ed to do it beforehand...

Well, congratulations, and welcome to the club! As far as the tubby goes, I don't know off the top of my head. Stick a post on the starion board, they'vll be able to straighten it out...

:) You HAVE to come to Bolney now

Early model Escort Cossies had a T3, later ones 93-on (roughly) had a T25 :D

But is that not the same turbo that is fitted to the S13??
If so that turbo cant be good for high boost pressure surely?? or are the turbo's completey different?

Tim

It's good for about 14psi in standard situations, and the CFM is good too. :)

Bolney - appx 2 miles Sarf of the Pease Pottage Motorway service station on the A23 (ie 2 miles after the end of the M23 - same road)
16th March...

AFAIK an Escort Cossie (small turbo T25 version) has about 220bhp as standard with a 2.0 engine. An S13 has 170bhp standard with a 1.8 litre engine.

With the Cossie's better engine, intercooler, etc, you wouldn't need to run very much more boost at all than on an S13 to get that kind of power :)

Plus I'm guessing the Cossie T25 has a higher spec than an S13 one...
