The points stay on your licence for 4 years, but only count against you for 3 years

SP30s last 4 years from the date of the offence and cost £18 to get removed, however some insurance companies want convictions from the last 5 years, even if its expired. I've still got just over 2 years of my sp30 left which I got 3 months after passing my test. Doh!

Info on convictions on the DVLA (http://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/endorsem.htm) site.

Aha, then you're fine. You dont have to pay to change to a photo license if you're coming from a paper one (I didnt have to :) ) just get the points off at the same time :)

Do you have to pay if you change address - I thought that was (bizarrely) free.

Changing your address is free, just fill in the 'new address' bit at the bottom and send it off.
