Hi All
Today my current jobs has p1ssed me off so much I am thinking of changing. I get paid to little for the amount of cr4p I have to take. :mad:
I have come up with one new career so far. This being an electrician (Apprenticeship). :D :D :D :D
Does any one know of any good websites where I can find out some more info on this job?
I have searched google but seem to come up with the usual rubbish. :eek:
Also planning to move further up north soon so maybe I can plan the change job and house at the same time. :) :) :) :)
Cheers
Dan, :D :D

Also I have had enough of my companys scankiness.
Dan,
How much further up north? I could try to find out the names of colleges here in the midlands that do electrical courses, my mate's and electrician and he has his brother as an apprentice
What do you do currently?
Good on you for taking control. No job is worth taking cr6p for.
How old r u ?
I'm from the Wirral, Merseyside, so let me know if you want local info.
Plumbers get good money, you know. There's a shortage.
IMO many well paid jobs are not worth doing if they take up loads of free time[unless your job is your life interest like a pop star] and/or give you loads of stress.
The key is to find out what your strengths are and go for the job which uses them best - then you should get some job satisfaction and be valued by your employer.
Many ppl make the mistake of going for a job because of purely the money or the image or the 'cushiness' of it, but they mostly regret it. Also consider social life implications of the job - do you want to meet people or work in a back room on your own ? Do you want a physically demanding job? one that has travel ? etc. etc.

milkmen get more action tho... ;)
unless you look in the specialist interest section of your video store... then its all plumbers apparently. Bet none of them could fix a leaky ballcock tho...

Cheers for the support guys much appreciated. Here are the answers to many of your questions:
I was looking to work somewhere between Nottingham and Yorkshire. This mainly due to house prices. Hmm lets compare 3 bedroom house in Hemel £150k 3 bedroom house in yorkshire £50k. Quite a chnage I think.
If you can find any info out Wak that will be great.:) :) :)
I am 21yrs old and would like a non-physical job as I haven't got the build for it, I thought electrician or plasterer would be good as these are the sort of trades which people don't learn nowadays. I have already had my chance with IT but the market is too competetive know and don't want to start learning html, unix or C+ ect.
To to bothered about the action as I am happily in a relationship, and will hopefully get married in a years time.
As far as why my job p1sses me off the are the main facts:-
I only earn £15k for a managers role.
I do long hours, travel around the country, have to pay up for things in advance i.e. hotel accomodation, food and petrol which can end up making me about £600 out of pocket for a month,
Also as part of my £15k a year job I have been required to write bids for our company which are worth about £300 million, and do I get any thanks or see any of that money. NO!
Plus I let you get through that and reply again later.
Cheers
Dan,:( :( :( :(

Hi Starionman
I work for Xerox who are contracted to BT. I know you were only kidding about action.:D :D :D :D :D
Also being a Manager at 21 is not a good thing as I am going a bit thin on top already, although may not be connected.
Cheers

Dan,
Xerox? The copier dudes?
Isn't the on top thinness a result of hard thought? or rubbing against the headboard ;)
What dept are you manager of then? Surely being a manager @ 21 gives you readily transferable skills?

Hi Mate
Reprographics Manager. Not that flattering and I don't really want to go to another printing company as most things are going electronic there not as much need for paper.
Cheers

Mick
hmmmm, 70k for a two bed semi,
sitting in my flat (which i rent) which consists of a room, followed by a bathroom and a kitchen. (studio type) retail value >£90K
I AM moving soon......would like to buy something.
As for your job matey, go for it, do something you enjoy and get paid well for.
Check out the Learndirect website - they list course avaliability and training opportunities in all areas throughout the UK - you can do an area search. This gives a good indication of the skills shortages in those areas and of course the training opportunities avaliable. Also check out Learning Skills Council website they also offer similar information on both a national and regional basis. As for housing Lancashire is still miles behind the housing boom!
Oh forgot to mention - good old Employment Service Job Centre list job opportunities on a regional basis also - as does Work Train and Connexions. Do searches for them on google or something similar.

Sound advice there.... ;)
IMO very few people enjoy their job and very very few would bother working if it wasn't for making money.
How do you fancy a job with the following..?
*36 hours per week, guaranteed.
*43 days annual leave.
*Shiftwork - but black cab is paid for if you're working extreme turns.
*Free travel.
*Secure job for life.
*More free uniform than you can shake a stick at.
*Approx £32k per year
Oh, and no real qualifications required to enter grade.
Downsides: Lots of time by yourself, infringes a bit on your social life and you can't tell anyone what you do...)
Oh honey, try not 2 worry too much
We'll sort something out (although wot I have no idea, as (well u kno wot situation I am in at the mo ;) ;) ).
There is some good advice on this post, and I too must thanks u guys 4 yer support and advice (I am "the other half" in case u were wondering), it reasures me too.
Although Daniel I must say-where did the bit about us getting married in a year come from - More than that where is the money coming from   ? - But, at least I kno u genuinely want to :)
But, if I am perhaps not working full time on poo money, and u doing an apprenticeship how the hell r we gonna afford anything.Argh  Oh well, at least we've got each other.
ONce again, thanx guys (sorry for hijacking this post) ;) ;)

Hell of a way to let the other half know about your plans ... :)
Since you have been a manager then that counts for a lot. Why not try for another manager role? They are not all the same because it will depend on the company you work for. From what you say, you got good experience, willing to travel to sites, obviously hard-working so I say don't change career, change company.
Take a look at the top people in a company (MDs, COEs etc.) what do you think they do?...they're all managers in some way or other not the programmer beavering at his desk.
Having said all that, I wouldn't be a manager (too political) but from what you say, its not being a manager thats the problem, its the company...all IMO.
Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck !

Do I get a gun and a Ford Capri? ;)
