Just a thought prompted by the SP311 thread.
I thought it would be interesting to see what speed those of us, who collect police speeding tickets, were going when they were flashed etc, to get an idea of what tolerences are used.
I had an SP50 for doing 64 in a 50 bit of motorway, and another for 68 in the same bloody 50 stretch 3 years later, buggers.
Also been had for 70 in a 55 in the US.

I got a sp50 for 90mph on the A1 where it has 4 lanes near peterbourgh, no one else around either :rolleyes: they must have been sat on a bridge or something. I neary contested it cos I know I was going faster than that and thought they might be trying to pull one over on me. Thought better of it in the end as " Iwas going faster than that" might not have gone to well in court:rolleyes:

SP50 99.74 on M5.
97mph on the A12 70mph limit - tried to out run them, but they had a cossy Scorpio:(
They caught me, b*llocked me and even told me to wash my car:eek: (number plates were dirty);)
£180 fine and 3 points:mad:

Been done for 39, 40, and 42 all on the same 30mph (which used to be a 60mph).
I was gutted watching some kids in a pug 205gti screaming past at well over 60 while i was standing next to my bike getting the ticket for 40. The policeman just waved his arm to tell the guy to slow down and then continued writing out my ticket.
Also got done for 72 in the US so i got booked into one of their "refresher courses". Was on the plane back home before having to pay up for it though :D

Nil points for doing 135 indicated in a 60 DC :). £200 fine tho :(

SP30 - 47mph in 30 zone that turns into a 50 100yds further up, they were stood infront of the 50 sign with a laser :( :(

SP30, 3 points & £60 fine for 47 in a 30 limit. Even though this particular 30 limit has 3 lanes, railings in front of the paths, shouldnt be a 30!! :mad:

SP50 - 90mph on the M2 near Faversham in Kent. Bastards were testing out them things that measure your average speed between two bridges. 3 points, 60£ fine.
The thing was, i didnt mind that as it was fair enough.
What had pissed me off tho was 12 hours beforehand, on my way to a friends house for a night out in Gillingham.
There's a section of dualcarriaged road that goes down lower Gillingham, it's a 40mph limit with 3 or 4 cameras all the way down it.
I was a tad late, so was motoring along at a MASSIVELY over the limit 41mph !! (remember, its a 40mph road"¬"!!!). Overtook a policeman in a 306.... took about 2 miles to do as he was doing 40mph, went thru all of the speed cameras with none of them flashing. I pull off and drive up to friends house, just as i pull up the car comes flying up behind me and sticks his blue lights and sirens on!?
Little hitler dude gets out and starts bollocking me for "being a little ***** and overtaking me". He then proceeded to ask if i had a job, that i should slow down and stop being irresponsible!
He then went on to tell me that he had a specially calibrated speedo! When i replied "it appears i do not" he went nuts and started saying that if he wasnt late for getting back to the station that he'd fine me there and then?!
Guy was a class A arsebandit.
Thouroughly bad mood all night after that as you can probably imagine :)
The best part is that i was driving a 1.2 litre Renault Clio 5 door... Not as if i was in a boyracer mobile :(

Ah yes but your highway code does state there is a minimum speed limit for motorways (30mph I think)

Id be interested to know what your Speedo said at the said time of speeding.
My speedo is dead on 10% out according to a GPS system, meaning when I got done for 82mph in a 60 zone, I actually thought I was doing 91 mph.

Wow !! ..... she was lucky not to be rear ended by something ..... there are plenty of cars out there with an aproach speed of 70mph !! :eek:
I think Its bad enough when someone is doing 50 ... but 25 :eek: ... that one would have taken me by supprise. ... Ha ... that last minute swerve into another lane, would make me glad for leather wipe down seats :)
SP50 97mph (in the ex-company Avensis 1.8) £60.
God damn welsh ass Police too, it was like 4am, with no other feckers around, Good job the motorway had bends in otherwise I would have had that beastie up to 111mph (avensis's dont do sweeping bends).
Only this morning some cock in front of me decided to the join the motorway at 45mph. What a knob. :mad: :mad:

I was knicked for 183mph in a 55... got off with a verbal warning as my friend was having an asthema (sp) attack. Needless to say those Supras are rather fast. They got me at the hospitol.

Doing about 135mph outside Bristol, didn't see coppers volvo pull up behind me it then flashed so i moved into inside lane slowing down in order to stop in hard shoulder. I hadn't got under 90mph and was bricking it bigtime when the pig shone a torch into the car for about 2 seconds and then sped off, into the distance. drove rest of way at 75 just in case they were waiting but they were long gone

Ford i mean they must have stolen the sx blue print from japan and then got completly stoned cos they stuck a fiesta engine in it.
Ive actually been in one, the design i think isnt that bad but theres more power in an ever ready silver seal battery.

I got pulled for doing 45 in a 30 limit 3 months after I'd passed my test. I've been more carefull since then and not been caught :) I did (alledgedly ;) ) manage 110 in my Astra 1.3L which I was impressed with. One of my housemates is lucky with speeding; he's set off at least two gatsos but both have been on the other side of the road and not the double-sided types. Speed camera central round Stafford :/
SP50 for 94 mph on the M40 - speedo was reading about 100 when they clocked me, if that gives an indication of inaccuracy :)
I got 2 warnings in less than a week. How unlucky and lucky was that ?! 39 in a 30 and 52 in a 40. I'm taking it more carefully now !
Speed cameras etc. make owning a fast car a worry. Everyone is mad on safety these days - we won't be able to do nething soon !:( :mad: :(

seems to me as if i go too fast to get caught!! cuz i've never been caught!! ( shudn#'t have said that bett i'll get done for 34 in a 30 now!
my top indicated speed is unknown cuz went off the clock i'd guestimate it wud have read around 160 but really was prolly only doing 140
my dad always used to warn me about a travelling speed trap on a bridge on the a10 between harlow and royston, @ 130 in many different cars never been caught
indicated 119 on the a1m to peterborouhgh on that 4 laney bit in a rover 214 (1.4 single point inject only if i got one thats was 6 months newer then wud have had mukltipoint) and 16v so pretty nippy for what it is. keeps up with them damn 16v 2.0 propes tho, gives them a shock.
just glad i don't get caught.... ah saying that how can i... its private roads

got an SP30 and £60, for doing 37 in a 30 zone, in a line of traffic hopefully everyone else got one too.
cops are mean buggers on the Island, as theres nothing else for then to do.:(

Only once so far.
SP50 98mph late at night on empty motor way, only sped up cos some tw@t was tailgating me

I was lucky I suppose beause I intially sped up to 120ish
SP50, 0 points, 14 day ban, £160 fine for 108 Mph on M6. Copper on a bridge, in court I found out he had only got there 2 minutes before I went through. If only I had been going faster I could have gone past before he got there!!
SP50, 3 points, £60 for 93 Mph on M62. Was in my last car at the time and when I got back in on the hard shoulder it wouldn't start. Got mr Plod back by getting him to push my car down the hard shoulder while I started it.
I've had a couple over the years but my older brother (Ripper Snr) who isn't into hammering it got lucky in a big way about two years ago.
He'd driven to London and on the way back got tailed by Plod (he didn't take any notice of the unmarked Volvo:rolleyes: ) who recorded 99.96mph average over 2.5 miles:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: .

I was driving down a610 in notting doing 120mph in my cosworth. and am unmarked police volvo was right up my arse (did not know was a copper and thats damgerous driving) so i sped up to an indicated 140 when he over took as i slowed down as i thought he was being a prat , when he over took he pulled in front and flipped up his police slow sign then just fooked off sharpish. i was very lucky indeed
I was once being followed by a unmarked car, who kept on flashing me, after a few mins this got highly annoying, so 2 of my m8's on the back seats started giving the bird and other gestures.
The guy kept on flashing even harder, so a m8 in the front seat wound down the window put his head out and gave even more geastures.
Then from nowhere, 3 traffic police, drifted out of a side road and overtook me and made me stop.
Turns out that the guy in the car behind me was a sarge in the CID :p
They all got taken away for the night, for free B&B :D
