Who's in ?

Just found out that Houx Annexe is once again availble (not sure on how many tickets).

Chaps, lets get it sorted! I'm gonna be out the country for a while but will try and keep an eye on this.

Anyone fancy organising tickets?!?!?! :sxoc:

Already booked on the Tues ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe and my mate has applied for Karting Nord tickets.

Can't wait and its only blumming November!!!!!!!!!

I hope we can get a meet organised next year as the local authorities and the weather were conspiring against us last time.

Still referring to Mrs Cloudy as a "thing". Bad man! ;)

Hope you've decided where you're going now...

I think this about the usual time of year we book isn't it? After that things seems to get booked up quite quickly.

Andy,

How about making a bigger thing of it for 2008, perhaps extend the trip a little. I'm only thinking an extra day at the start or end, but enough time to stop over somewhere, do a few more miles, or perhaps loop in Spa :)
Definately need some mug to drive a support vehicle though!

Oh, and shall we do the Classic as well?

Of course... just not when she's in hitting distance:wack:

All most.

Neil has usually booked it by now but he's been a bit slow off the mark this year.

Ben

The race is 14th/15th June, folks start going from the previous Sunday, and costs vary on how you plan to cross. I am going LD Lines and is costing £115 return, many go SpeedFerries which costs about £50, or you could choose Brittany Ferries which costs about £250.
Race tickets are available for approx £40 covering Wed practise to the race.
Camping tickets vary on which site you choose but tend to cost about £40.

Don't forget to add fuel, food and beer costs but in my opinion it still works out a cheapish week away considering you can pay £100 for 1.5hrs for the Brit GP!

JC
20-11-2007, 20:00
This year cost £50 for the ferry (per car not per person  ) 45 euros for camping in Houx Annexe(again per car not per person  ) , ticket for racing was approx 60 euros iirc & I did about £300 in petrol getting there, twatting about a bit & getting back, spent about £200 on food, booze & "other" things ;)
I had 2 passengers in my car so splitting the fuel, ferry & camping costs made it a cheap week long holiday :D

How does it compare to Houx Annexe, near the track etc??

docwra
11-12-2007, 17:47
KN is the only site I know of where you can get right up next to the track - theres a stretch just before the pit lane of about 200m where you can stand by the inner fencing, about 10ft from the track :)

Its got food stalls, is definitely the nearest to the entrance although its a bit of a trek to get to Dunlop for instance, and you get a good bunch of folk on there - Id recommend it but Ive only ever stayed there ;)

andyfield
11-12-2007, 17:53
Is it the same one where people walk through as they aren't very tough on security, can't remember which one that was, think I read about it on Pistonheads or beermountain. People moaning that as soon as the race finished everyone walked through their campsite!!

I usually go with another bunch and stay elsewhere (they have bailed this year) but always get a camping ticket for KN so we can use it as a car park when we go over to the village. It is very convienient for getting to the village, pit straight, Dunlop and down to Tetre Rouge.

I shall be in KN this year staying with some mates who normally set up camp about 10ft from the fence and track!
They were camped near a guy with a black !4a (sorry forgot your name:o). Are you going to be there again this year?

planned on taking a TV to catch the England Euro matches  and the race whilst away from the circuit but not sure how to get it tuned ???

is it just a case of sticking an aerial up and pointing it in all directions until we get a signal or can we use a digi box or something like this

Not sure if il go this year,a lot of people last year I know were so pissed off about the security setting out tiny camping spaces with white tape only to have half the camsite empty on race day....IMHO Le Mans has been going steadily downhill the last 5 years, prices have gone up massively and last year some c**t put sugar in our generator cos it was on 24 hrs, ffs theres gonna be 24 hr racing!! a genny is the last of your worries bout noise!!! theres just getting to many whinging little idiots going compared to when I started going and it was a major lads piss up,very few kids, no women and proper beer not watered down amstel everywhere!!! rant over:rolleyes:

Looks my mate has managed to secure some KN tickets. From all accounts they seem to be hard to get this year due to alot of the campsite being handed over to corporate bods!

If you haven't put your request in for camping tickets then best to do it soon, just in case the rumours are true.

spaces do seem to have been taken very quickly this year.

spaces are still available in Beausejour but you will need to be quick, follow this link to the ACO site :)

http://ticket.lemans.org/vente2/visu_article_mini.php?id_produit=182&rubrique=45&id_boutique=45&id_univers=1&id_ev=20

I got an ACO membership last year thinking it would make it easier to get stands, camping, entry but it just was'nt the case

Booked the ferry and got general entry tickets + campsites no problem at all but the stands were sold out before christmas so I thought we had missed out, I checked the lemans.org site again on 2nd of January and they had released more stand tickets so I grabbed them while I could :D

I also emailed these people to see if they had any tickets

http://1st-tickets.co.uk/ (http://1st-tickets.co.uk/)

they emailed me back on the 4th of Jan and they have loads of stand tickets left but not sure about campsites.

Don't worry about the general entry tickets, they can be bought on the day, loads of the locals do it, its the campsites & ferries that get bought up early ;)

My friend has been an ACO memeber for a number of years and although he puts in his request at the earliest possible time they seem to take longer and longer each year to confirm the order.:annoyed:

We only had confirmation through a different contact rather than the ACO.

I think this is why the LM trip seems to take up most of the year, just through the planning, waiting etc. Makes it all the more fun though :D roll on June

I think this place is a bit cheaper than just tickets. Only taking deposits at this time though.

http://www.racetours.co.uk/Le%20Mans%2024%20&%20Classic.htm

Still annoys me that a lot of these places try to rip you off on the price of the General Enclosure ticket. Last year they were only about 35 Euros on the door. However I see this year they are 62 Euros (ouch!) so the prices are more realistic given the weaker Euro > £

Allocated plots?? How does that work then??

If I go down on Weds for instance, can I set out a space big enough for everyone else going to KN as well??

Well all I can say is what the guy told me, he said their 100 out of about 400 total or so allocation in KN had been negotiated to be in central area away from the bottom end of the site. Will have to wait and see then. Think he mean't theres' a specific plot number, but we won't know til the tickets are printed and sent out, will wait and see what plot no. is!!

He also said the ACO had cocked up to, originally releasing 600 plots, then realised they could only get 400 on the site, and had to withdrawn a lot from their public online booking to meet the commitment for their official ticket agents whom have already paid for their reserved allocation, and is why KN sold out so quickly on the ACO site.

Plenty of plots are still available through agents, just not on the ACO website.

We're going down Wed, Dover /Dunkerque, tbc.

If you bought all the camp tickets at the same time then the request will go in as a block booking so hopefully your all next to each other?

Aye, but if my other mates, you and your boys etc are coming down, skid solo and his lads then we can have a big pitch that will fit all of us. Which will be cooler than a penguin in a freezer.

Eye, that would be, shall have to see what the ACO are up to, you could give justtickets a bell and get their thoughts on the allocation situation?

I might be wrong but the 'allocated plots' may not mean pitches as each campsite ticket sold is 'allocated' and the official ACO guidelines state that each allocation is 35 metre squared IIRC.
I have heard of KN going corporate so there may be 'numbered pitches' aswell as the normal free for all. Will be interesting to see if the Danish will have their tented village as normal (for those who have seen them before) or whether they are being bumped out elsewhere.

Not sure what they mean about the bottom of the field as I can't imagine them getting numbered pitches in and around the trees near the track (which is the best place to camp IMHO).

I have a feeling the times of free for all camping are coming to a close, in which case I will be resorting back to camping outside the circuit in a decent campsite with excellent facilities :)

Thats why I wanted to do a block booking with Docwra, might ask out booking to have adjacent plots if possible...

I was told I could only get one more when I booked anyway mate, but I see your logic now :)

No worries I'll ask for adjacent areas if this is how they're doing it. I bet they won't get the tickets for a while anyway

Bugger with a capital B :annoyed:

Looks like we have been bumped from KN due to the 'cock up with spaces'. We have been given options of Technopark or Blue Nord. Techno park has no showers and floods! Plus it doesn't have a drop down kerb so that rules my friend out as the front of his Elise hits anything bigger than a catseye .

Looks likely we will be in BN. My concern is that it is open to the general public and its not the safest of places.

I reckon I will miss my normal hassle free campsite in Spay and be back there next year enjoying the decent showers, toilets and a bloody good cafe/pub in the village.

My friend gets them as he is an ACO member, so would have thought they get preferential treatment! But I suppose they are the easiest ones to dick about so as not to annoy the other ticket agencies!

He gets his allocation of 6 tickets through them and then another 6 with the Leman tourist board using his ACO membership number (as they never bother checking whether he has had his allocation). This has worked for a number of years until now :annoyed:

This is the reply from the tourist board,
Bonjour, Unfortunately, for reasons of public works inside the circuit, I have just been informed that 2 camping areas are closed for the most part (except for advertising agencies) : Maison BLanche and Karting Nord So I propose you to choose between 2 others camping places : TECHNOPARC : 47 € or BLEU Nord : 53€

Holy thread bumpage I know, but can all those in the North Essex / South Cambs / East Hertfordshire / West Suffolk area give a big up for Stuart Hall who's driving for the Creation-AIM team this year :)

He's the son of one of my local customers (Pete Hall, business partner with Andy Rouse  and a handy racing driver himself) and he came 4th last year overall in his first race there :notworthy

thank you :sxoc:

(EDIT : Should also add that he's a nice enough lad too  )

I was impressed with how he went last year (he finished 4th I think) and drove very well considering he was a rookie at LM.

Creation have a good line up with Marc Goosens and Johnny Mowlem, 2 very experienced guys, so if the car holds up then it should be a good one for them.
