Could you please tell me how much this board costs a year to have? I'm looking at something similar for a site I'm building ATM
Thanks!

Prolly low-ish bandwidth, can't see more than 25 users being present at any moment. But isn't that a server issue?
Or is teh VBB server itself a problem? Given that they have boards everywhere I would guess that isn't the case...

I want something pref. free that is good and on a similar line to this one...

I've used phpbb.com, is quite good and free. But it's your bandwidth that eats your wallet :(

This board costs £100+vat a month, but should cost us three times that.

Aimoo is quite nice and free. They don't seem to have many bandwidth issues either...

Am I right in thinking that this one is a forum to load into your own server?

And once I@m on 512kb broadband, what sort of probs could you forsee if this is software to load into your own server?
(sorry if this is a bit dense, but I'm picking it up while running)

Yes, phpBB runs on a server. It's written in PHP so you need that installed too (it's free though) and a database server (like mySQL, which is free). phpBB also needs a web server (like apache, free!). Why no go all the way and use Linux as your OS too?

I put phpBB onto a WindowME:eek: system, using Personal Web Server and Microsoft Access as the database. Works OK on my b/b service. You need to check your Acceptable Use Policy if you are running a serious server on b/b; ntl: certainly don't like that...
