View Full Version : c spanners apex coilovers help please
ok Ive come to the conclusion after doing a search and speaking to people off here that i have too much spring preload on my coilovers they can bottom out on the odd occasion round town
problem is the garage that did the work did not give me the spanners back and have lost them
does any one have the spanners i can borrow. for a bit
If someone knows what they are doing if the could help me as well? can i do this with the coilovers on the car?
Beer tokens and stuff obviously are par for the course

Just seen the photo's of your new motor in members, very nice, pisser about the clutch but hey ho, still got to be chuffed.

I could bring some to the longwell meet if you're coming?? just bring a jack to the meet and some in the know peeps will no doubt point you in the right direction or even help out.
How long have they been on?
Might need to get the rubber mallet and the wd40 tagged in as the locking collers can jam up with all the road gunk and stuff.
Next time i have a few hours im jacking mine up and cleaning everything, locking it back together with some improvised dust boots.
I reckon a bout 2000 miles so i hope not too bad. Cant make it to the meet as away this weekend. Anyone got any I can borrow in bristol?
Could try apex they could have some spares
erm just a thought
I am assuming that you have to use these, a normal spanner wont work correct?

Correct you can't use normal spanners.
If you get stuck you can use a drift (screwdriver or simillar) and a hammer to unlock the collars - you will see what i mean when you look.
I have apex C-spanners which you are more than welcome to borrow (but they are not where i thought they were when i just looked:rolleyes: ) i just need to find them - the problem of living in one place and keeping the car at another is that everything alwats ends up being at the wrong end:annoyed: .
Appriciate the offer mate
Rang apex and they said the same as you with the hammer and screw driver thing. Have got some spares on order (3-4 weeks) too so should be alright now.
If i take of pre load will the car raise in ride height by much?

Just get a huge pair of grips from any decent hardware store (inc B&Q), its what I use  much easier than C spanners or anything else :)
I think plumbers call them stilsons???
