Are you on about sandblasting the camcovers?! Get a tub of elbow grease you lazy bastard! :p
My boss use's them for his scooter parts . Even had anything done my self but his custom scooters seem to come out ok lol
We used to use them in work for 30 ton crane parts. I've had a subframe and some other suspemsion bits done by them but wouldn't take any alloy bits to them
Ok lissen to the buff . He knows his shit

Seconded
what about a DIY sandblasting kit?
£25 shot blasting gun, kiln dried sand £4 a bag. Blag some time on a compressor.

You can doa reasonable job with one of the guns from the likes of Machin Mart/ World.... but, you need a big compressor to do anything big, and a big space and a suit/ room to do it in - the blast media can go everywhere.
If you go the DIY route, use olive stone granules as your blasting media, as it's less aggressive than sand ;)

Second that.
Don't go near ally with sand or metal shot
Use walnut or olive
Use walnut or olive
You might struggle getting walnut - there have been a few crop failures so supplies of walnut shell are tight. Almond shell was similarly affected, but supplies are now coming through :)

That was ages ago though! is it still a problem ?
They had a similar problem around 3/4 years ago and quite a few people went over to bead blasting with some form of plastic !
EDIT: Just looked on the stocks and records site and they are saying its the 5th largest recorded crop ever ! they are also saying that they are to reduce crops by 7.5% and this will put the price up !
France are just being gay and don't want to work for their money (well thats the way i interpreted it lol)
This year the walnut and almond crops have been poor so shells have been hard to come by. All the plastic guys are coming back to organic media because of the price of polymers :)
Went to a place today and the guy said it would ruin the finish on the alloy :(
Quite tempted to figure out some kind of diy home system. Maybe blast it with something softer, wenslydale? Last time i took sandpaper to aluminium the result was a right mess wasnt it bryn :p

It's always the way with the UK.
Price goes up find cheaper.
The only reason the price goes up is due to demand etc but when people move on the price goes back down again lol

Use medium wet and dry paper to get the worst off.
Then go to a fine grade paper.
Then get your elbow grease out and give it death with autosol.
The results will be pleasing :)

Due to "green" legislation, a lot of energy firms in the countries where the crops are produced are buying up the shells and just burning them to create electricity etc and companies like I work for, who turn them into useful things for alternative uses, aren't getting a look in, or have to pay very high prices for them :(. When this happens, the smaller crops, like almond and walnut, all get sucked up into it all. The olive oil industry is so big (and complicated) that there is almost always a surplus, and we do all right out of it :D
Man, I came on here to forget about work  :wack:
Butuz, if you go the DIY route, give me a shout and I'll get you a 25kg bag of organic blasting media FOC. I'm not sure how I'll get it to you though, as I don't have any customers over in south wales and I've got no time off planned to visit friends in that area in the near future :(
vapor blasting brings out aluminum quiet nice i know a place that dose small to medium parts not sure of the price though

Now that would explain it :wack:
Why don't they just burn the rubbish that we are filling the dam countryside with and make something good out of nothing lol

Because, and I'm not making this up here, that wouldn't be classed as "sustainable" energy
That and the all the chemical nasties that would be released when it was burnt :wack:
