I hate you all.
The plan was for a break, and an event in March/ April. But, due to popular demand, I've brought it forward. Gits.
Anyway.
Same setup(ish) as before.
www.driftwest.co.uk is being updated later today - once I have some pics I can use of TDW2.
The on-line ticketing is being binned, as people had problems with it and it was a pain to keep on top of numbers.
To pay: Paypal turboturtle555@yahoo.co.uk
PLEASE PUT IN YOUR USERNAME AND A MESSAGE SO I CAN IDENTIFY YOU!
IF YOU HAVE SEVERAL USERNAMES, PUT IN ALL OF THEM SO YOU DONT GO ON THE LIST TWICE!
Burger van will be in attendance and a tyre van is being negotiated (I hate tyre vans).
Again the gate will be open at set times, but this time we will be sticking to the set times, so be aware of them (they are on www.driftwest.co.uk now and will remain there after the update).
We will run the same comps as last time, but again, will be run at set times - if you aren't there, you miss out and if not enough people turn up at the time, the comp will be cancelled. There will also be a few more novelty awards, as I seem to have made a spoon of it last time round.
NEW for this time....
NO refunds after cut off date. That means none. I don't care if you paid your full weekend and blew your car up on the friday night before setting off. Remember - after the cut-off, it's spent.
DEPOSITS - I will accept deposits this time round - £20 and it is NON-REFUNDABLE. That £20 will secure your place.
FAIR WARNING: Acting the pratt in the pits will get you a warning. This means burnouts, manjiing out of the pits, driving too fast or generally taking the Michael. (I'm looking at you, Jim...)
Acting the pratt WILL get you kicked off. No third chances. I CANNOT AFFORD FOR CHILD TO GET HIT BY A CAR.
There is a masive amount of runway... what do you need?
If you are bringing beer... please bring it in cans. I'm looking at you Ian. Broken glass sucks.
And the grass areas aren't the bin.
PMs on 20 forums are hard to answer, please send any private enquiries to drew@driftwest.co.uk to ensure a reply.
Here be the link to the one constantly updated official list of entrants:

I think thats it.
Question and flame time.

I'm gonna have the E30 Touring slammed, on better shocks, with an exhaust and a hydro wand by the time this comes around, maybe more powers too :)
Will there be another free beer tent.
Depends on how quick the photos turn up and how I get on with the suspension on the shed....
Horrendous news folks.
Well, horrendous for those planning on attending TDW3 anyway.
This is the most difficult post I've had to make on any forum, ever. So I'll try to keep it simple.
We have been told by the MOD that we are no longer allowed to use Brawdy airfield, effective immediately.
Here's a copy of the last email I recieved... after trying to get them to at least allow TDW3:
From: DE Ops North-LMS3b3 (Fogg Allan Mr)
Sent: 15 November 2007 10:12
To: 'drew.driftwest@googlemail.com'
Cc: DE Ops North-LMS3f1b (Hughes Linda Ms); 14SREW-RHQ-2IC; DE ESP-Land Prop1 (Yates Richard Mr)
Subject: Drifting application for use of land at Cawdor Barracks January 08
Drew
Linda has passed your e-mail to me.
The situation remains that the application must be refused. The instruction I have received from management is quite clear and unambiguous.
The military estate is sometimes made available for motor sport but only motor sport within the regulation of the MSA (formerly RAC) or Auto Cycle Union. If the activity is not recognised by them, it is not to take place on the Defence Estate. If it is, applications for use of the Defence Estate may be considered. It is not always approved.
The "Blue Book" provisions regarding the suitability, and sometimes licensing of venues, the scrutiny of vehicles, the licensing of the event and the attendance of MSA Stewards independent of the organising motor club, offer reassurance to MoD about the conduct of the event.
The situation is that the consent given for your previous event was given in error - my error - and any future application can only be considered if the applicant satisfies established policy.
The way ahead may be for drift clubs to lobby the MSA for recognition and admission to membership.
My apologies if the refusal and cancellation causes embarrassment, but I was in error in not refusing the earlier requests whilst the MSA affiliation route was explored.
Sorry about that
Allan
We are not allowed to use MOD land while we are not MSA affilliated, and the MSA do not recognise drifting as a motorsport.
Here's a copy of the last mail I got from them:
Michael Duncan
to me
Drew,
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately, there really would be no benefit to your organisation becoming an MSA Registered Club. If you were to join you simply would not be allowed to run the events that you run.
MSA Registered clubs that run events under MSA permits must run these events to the General Regulations of the MSA, these regulations are in place to firstly minimize risk to participants and secondly ensure fair competition.
The MSA does not regulate non-competitive motorsport, such as Track days, Run what you brung events or Drifting. Indeed if an MSA registered club organised such an event which was outside of the General Regulations, disciplinary action may be taken against that club.
I suggest you speak to the Association of Track Day organisers (http://www.atdo.co.uk/) who may be able to advise you further on the subject of organising non-competitive events.
Best Regards
Michael Duncan

I have been in touch with the ATDO, but they were just as interested.
This leaves us with 2 options.
Kill Driftwest, or find somewhere else.
We're finding somewhere else.
We have some options, however, none of them are Brawdy (and you will be kept up to date on any developments on this).
Having attended TDSW, I am considering that we may well have to downsize, as SFTR and Semtex have proved that we do not need that much room to have fun - it's just nice.
The plan at this point is to run events similar to TDSW (ensuring that they don't clash). This means less room, and no 4th gear manji-ing. But it does mean cheaper events all round.
So..... in short?
TDW as we know it[b] is officially dead. nd TDW3 is postponed, pending finding a good area (not cancelled.....).
Anyone we owe money to [b]will be paid ASAP - this means investors and pre paid attendees for TDW3 - just bear with me while I get this stuff sorted out. But you will be paid.
I'd like to thank you all for your support and loyalty over the last 6 months - and hopefully continued support when TDW returns.
Although it's not actually my fault, I'm sincerely sorry that we couldn't keep Brawdy.
Let the flame fest begin :(
what about that huge empty lump of tarmac at felindre? its about time something other than the WGBrally used it imo

What about Swansea Airport, there is also one in bridgend, think it's called Stormydown or something ask someone local to check it out
i storm is a big tarmac area . Go kart track down there
Swansea airport is unlikely tbh as its quite used for pleasure flights and also the air ambulance is based there - can see that getting caught up in red tape before it begins!
Stormy down, there might be some milage in that yes - could ring/call into the kart track and find out the int?

I think thats the old british steel site, seriosuly bumpy but it is a huge area, can't see it being of any use for drifting though. Not actually sure who owns it theese days either.
