S13 or S14, is the manifold off the car totally with the turbo attached or are you trying ot take ot turbo off with the manifold still attached ot the engine?

its better ot take the manifold off with the turbo on, you have ot take the passenger side wheel and the arch liner off to get to the manifold bolts from underneath

Undo the bolts from the turbo elbow > the downpipe and then pull the manifold, turbo, elbow out all in one.

Easiest way to do it tbh

Was a pain in the ass on the S13, especially with limited tools, keep trying it will be quicker than someone arranging a day to come over.

Can you slide it off the studs (engine side of manifold) ?

I had to remove some of the studs to enable easy removal

Pretty sure I have a standard manifold somewhere  and diffinately have a tubular one ;)

26-10-2007, 10:51
And not all tubular manifolds crack - my one (not sure on make) stayed together on a long drive back from southamton to get papa's car  even when my turbo came loose enough to break 2 of the studs that hold the turbo to the manifold - no damage to the mani whatsoever strong as an ox.
