Am I right in thinking that all cash from speed cameras now has to be put back into road safety now ? If so then all I can say is mobile speed cameras seem to be on the drop dramitically in Widnes where I live now.

Instead they are being replaced with some quazi emmissions / tyre checkpoints that are sprouting up with alarming regularity.

They pull you in and then stick a sensor up the exhaust and go over all your tires and the car in general.

I take it alot of this is fines based charges should they catch you on anything ? I also assume that this revenue is NOT restriced to road safety and can be put into whatever ever they like.

Therefore ! is this the next menace on the road ?

AND TO THINK I WANT TO DECAT !

They have to put the cash into new speed cameras :mad:

hmm i have a friend! who drives thorugh local speed camera on his bike (front ways on) as much a possible hoping to use up the film as much as possible :D allthough if this camera was

A: not on clear road with no bends

B: In a 30 not a 50

C: in a built up area not in the middle of nowhere sat wating to catch the unsuspecting high volume of alton towers traffic

D: not sat right behind a tree and a large road sign

E: painted bright a colour not roadsign grey (see above)

F: outside a school or in an accident blackspot

Then my friend wouldnt have a problem with it because camera's that actually save lives on the road is never a bad thing :)

Intersting article in Autoexpress this week -seems someone is setting fire/reversing into speed cameras on purpose;)

As long as these new roadside checks catch the uninsured, untaxed, unMOT'd as well the road should be a better place. Can't help but feel its a nice little earner tho'

Yes indeed.

In fact, if there are any teachers out there, maybe you could include it in the Social and Moral part of the curriculum (if there is one).

Of course there isn't.
