Madness of the 9th over, forward planning and all, should be much quieter, and I should be at this one:D anyone joining me?

Mike
10-02-2003, 14:52
not me: far too hectic and busy yesterday! I want exclusive use of Crail (well with 39 others!).

dunc

There'll probably only be about 39 running at the next crail! Its pretty quiet on the non-mag days. If you get there early (b4 11), you can do constant runs if you want!

Probably won't be there, I've got a bit of work to do on the 200 (fit a turbo and Bosch pump again  ).

I'll soon stop making excuses, don't worry. I fitted my bosch fuel pump at the w/end and its still fcuked :( I'll have to fit my old one and start the more tricky task of the tubby. I've borrowed a jack and axle stands and stuff off of my dad so it'll be done by the end of the week :)

Dunc.

BTW 300zx, is yours a non-tubby then?

300zx
17-02-2003, 10:28
no dunc mine is the twin tubby:o it was my first time up the 1/4 mile and i had just fitted a new chip which is causing the car to overfuel badly due to the chip being setup for running 17psi and im only running 11.2

if i can think of any other excuses i will let you know;)

LOL, on my first time on the strip I lined up against a 300zx TT. I was gutted, but it turned out it was his first time as well and I beat him  By the end of the day he had pipped the 15 second barrier (14.9s) on his standard 300zx though :(

yeah i would put a lot of my times down to driver error rather than the car i was a bit worried abot planting the throttle until i knew i had full traction

Kev
17-02-2003, 18:54
I have the same problem, my 200 is probs one of the most powerfull scots owned, but the driver is sh!t so he gets cr@p times:(

Dunc, im gutted for ya, u spoke to Bren?

Kev

i dont think i will make it on the 23rd now as i just bought an apexi avc-r today just to make the traction worse:confused:

tmmollah
17-02-2003, 21:42

Kev, it's not that you are bad, it's that I'm very....

Don't worry, a T28 will beat a T25: it's a matter of time

Just in from running a few mates home
went to overtake a 206 and lost traction when boost came in, in 2nd, then again in 3rd, so defo need new tyres.

Kev, ill defo beat him, was reeling him in last week when i got traction in 3rd, i know that for sure, its just a case of new tyres, and maybe shocks.

Kev, I spoke to Bren yesterday and I'm sending it back to him. Its cost me about £20 in postage I've posted it that many times though :(

What times are you expecting in your car in the near future, considering I'm getting 14.9s on standard turbo, enigine, exhaust I recon you'll be getting 14.2s or alot less. You've still got my LSD to fit, I bet that'll make a further 0.3 to 0.5 difference easily

I don't think I'll be at crail this time guys, I'm fitting my turbo at the weekend.

Enjoy,

Dunc.

Kev Get yourself round to Auchinlea tyres Kev, I got a couple of BF Goodrich tyres dirt cheap, lifetime warranty against punctures, sidewalls blowing out etc....and think they can order in almost any make you want if they dont take your fancy.

Well, who went?

Midgers
24-02-2003, 17:55
Me :D

turns out they add your reaction time onto the actual time it takes you to travel 1/4 mile now in line with the other strips over the country. I know some people were thinking their times were slower this year :)

I got :
best RT: 0.009
best TV: 102
best Run: 14.602 and that's with a poo reaction time of 0.23 :D

I'm quite chuffed to say the least...
The bloke in the 525 turbo wasn't tho mwaahahahahaha :D

In pro drag racin there is 2 different ways the lights on the xmas tree go on, on a pro tree when both drivers light up both sets of staging lights the 3 amber lights flash together then green, the fastest reaction allowed is 0.4. On a sportsman setup like Crail where the three ambers light up one at a time your allowed 0.5.

So Mr Midgers your 0.23 is really a red light :D :D :D

those times form crail are seriously strange. know a few cars that have trap speeds and 1/4 times well quicker than they should be

It's just because the lights count down at a constant rate, so you can count down and go on your 4th count. My "reaction" times are always tiny but on a real race light setup (on F1 etc, don't know about drag racing) there is a random pause before the green so you can't count down yourself.

Crail lights allow you to work out how quick your car is instead of how quick you can react.

Good times though Midgers, what boost are you running, have you got a guage fitted?

15 (ish) psi... it drops off a bit.
I just did the FBU after 6 runs at standard boost and that got my TV over 100 :D instead of 94 - 96. I'll post a link to my times when they come on crails website
:)
