FIA seats - How long does the approval last for?

Bit confused as to how long a seat remains approved? They all seem to be stamped with a 'made on' date - is there a limit in time that it 'lasts'?

I think it depends on the type of racing, hence why no expiry date. I know drifting regs say has to be an approoved seat but no age limit as long as condition is good

I would assume a certificate is withdrawn if regulations change?

FIA approved seats with the standard number being 8855-1999

Expire 5 years after the date stamped on the seat, a further 2 years can be granted but only if you return the seat to the manufacturer for assessment and it is deemed fit to use (certificate will be provided).
