View Full Version : SXOC day at Crail is GO, GO, GO....!
...all we need is someone to call them up and find out when/how much and a whole bunch of people to come along (but not TOO many!). Any volunteers?

So y the hell didnt u do it instead of putting up this post.
Give Martin a couple of days to get back from 'the dam, and a few more to clear his head, then im sure he will sort it out.
If we find we cant make up the numbers from 200's, im sure the ss-r boys will fill in the places.
Kev
perhaps we should buy one of those gadgets you put in your car which measures g-force.. you can set them up to do 0-60s 1/4's etc...? then we can ignore the times Crail measure!

Hi Mike
I've got one of those, its called ap-22.
very good
does calculates your time in 10 mph increments
it also calculates the hp at the wheels
as well as calculating the 1/4 mile
i used it on my clio just last week and i did 60 in 7.6 and 100 in 19.8 - but my tyres are sha**ed - too many crail 1/4 miles last year
if there is enough interest i'll bring it along at the next meet - crail or livi
cheers
kenny
PS. Kev, i've taken the plung and bought a car to replace my sha**ed 200. its still a jap sport car so i should be allowed along to the meets. can't wait till i pick it up on saturday.

hi thunder
when does the supra arrive?
nice car - i've always faniced one.
do you have to collect it at some ferry port?
is it n/a or turbo?
a friend at work had arranged a trade in on his
FTO for a twin turbo supra. Lovely machine. He was
raving about this car beforehand.
on the day that he was due to do the swap he crashed
the FTO in the car park at work - deal was off
he was well p*ssed
cheers

Supra is due to arrive at Newcastle port around the 12th of March - I can't wait!
It's a top spec GZ Twin Turbo model with the full leather interior and all the toys :) Only 28,000 miles on it too.
After I collect it, it will probably take me about 10 days to convert it / test it / get it UK road legal - so mid march before I tear up some tarmac in it. Pity I plan to sell it (to make some profit) :( but then it's nice to do the whole process again with other jap car(s).

T, can you buy modified vehicles from Japan? Seen any hi-powered S13s?

Yeah there are always loads of 180SX's (SR20DET powered S13's) available in the Jap auction system. I've not been keeping my eye out for one so haven't noticed anything modified power wise (not been reading the descriptions). I can source any car from Japan at a decent price though and I'm sure there will be many modified S13's I can purchase as the 180SX is a cult car in Japan. For example, when I was looking out for a Supra I saw an 850BHP monster Big Single converted one go through - this car was seriously modded.
Anyways, I discussed the 180SX import thing with dunc before and it's not worthwhile price wise unless you are buying say a '95 or a '96, as a typical '92 price would be about £3.5k OTR in the UK (for something good quality with low mileage, about 40,000 miles or less perhaps on a newer year). A '95 would likely be about £5k. Taking into account how cheap an S13 is over here now you realise importing a 180SX would only be to get the following:
1. Excellent condition
2. Low mileage
3. Higher Spec
4. The SR20DET engine
5. Possibly newer than the S13's available here (made up 'til '99 in Japan I believe)
You wouldn't really do it to save money over buying a UK S13. Other cars will save money over UK as well as being in better condition with lower mileage, such as the Supra I've got on a boat. A very worthwhile car for you boys to import would be the S15 - very tasty in Spec R Aero guise, looks the part, has a 250BHP SR20DET and a 6Sp 'box.

...sound advise, thanks! Do you have a web link to brouse possible cars? If they mod S13's so much over there, do you know where can u get 2nd hand parts (apart from JapAndy)? Cheers!
Not sure where to get 2nd hand parts from. With the imports I buy to personal order, I don't have a stock of cars other than the one or two I may bring in to my own preference to sell on.
thanks T...
Anyhow, back to Crail. I e-mailed them and the said:
"For a private hire it is £35.00 per driver and a minimum of 40 participants with 1/2 of the number of participants fee paid up front to book date you have in mind. However if you want to do a track day the minimum number required is 10 this involves a 2 circuit set up and finishes untimed darg race"
Any interest? I think we'll struggle with getting 40 so a track day might be better with an AP-22 to share http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31786

Mike, I'm up for a track day, but I reckon it'd need to be the 10 car untimed one. I've been supposed to be organiseing this but have been waiting to get my gearbox done before I spend my cash on a track day, here's the post 'bout it
crail trackday post (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?threadid=27267&perpage=20&pagenumber=2)
i would be up for a track day at crail if you need anyone to put the numbers up:)

fortunately for my health I'm not a Dons fan! Looks like we're getting some interest in a Crail event... I'll get my finger out and organise sometime... probably for the spring/early summer so less chance of rain/hitting the boost cut!
Kenny, can u keep to one bloody screen name pls, else ur gonna confuse everyone (me)
