View Full Version : Lambda sensors

A lot of the cars we get in the workshop and faultly lambda sensor, so now we stock plug in lambda sensors for the 200 :)

They're £69.99, less than half the price of Nissan sensors!

The come with OEM type plug, so they're a direct fit with no soldering/wiring.

We currently have S13 and S14 sensors in stock - The S14a uses a longer cable (you can get the sensors we have in stock to fit, but its a bit of a faff)

We'll be getting the S14a specific ones in soon.

could a dodgy o2 sensor be causing my symptoms?

oem lambdas @ 69.99... have you gone mad jez?

Jez

could a dodgy o2 sensor be causing my symptoms?

Maybe - to check you need to hook up nissan datascan, then with the engine warmed up, hold the engine at about 2krpm - the o2 sensor reading should flick back and forth a couple of times a second. If it just stays still then its probably knackered.

do you have a date for the s14a sensors yet Jez??:)

Jez
26-09-2007, 12:49
Not yet - they're on their way though :)
The S13/S14 ones fit, but you have to mvoe the plug on the loom - not ideal really.

think i'd rather hang on for the 14a specific one really. i'll keep watching this thread for an update.

my s14 has had the lambda removed for watever reason in the past, will i see a big diff fitting a new one or are they not needed?

Jez
11-10-2007, 14:20
You'll probably need one to pass the MOT and you may see slightly better fuel economy

RADS_S13
11-10-2007, 14:41
if mine doesn't pass its MOT I'll be giving you a bell mate, as mines a bit suspect could probable do with one anyway.

Hey Jez if you're about this afternoon is it OK to pop over and buy one of your fine S14a lambdas (and ideally fit it using your tool :smash: ) ?

Do you take debit cards or will I need to swing by a cash machine first?

one pin on the ecu is working, 111 changes from 0 to 12v at 4000rpm, but pin 19 is a constant 0.2v

is this the usual failure mode?

and have you got one in stock for a 14A?

fitted it last night (note, I didn't say I fitted it) ;)

and could I just say in the world of 200 repairs/mods where we have got used to cheaper non nissan alternatives needing a great deal of fettling to make fit or work, what a refreshing change it was for a genuine replacement, that didn't need the loom chopping to fit, with a cute little sachet of copper grease, and two ickle cable ties.

sir i salute you.

Just wondering how these sensors compare to the standard nissan ones? I know they're a lot cheaper but will they last? I only ask as I have heard bad things about non nissan lambda sensors in that they don't last five minutes.

Jez
04-01-2008, 14:42
I've sold a lot of these lambda sensors and never had one returned - they seem very good quality and have factory fit electrical connections.

is either the s13 or s143 sensor suitable for use on a redtop s13 SR??

makes no difference to hoe the car runs whether mine is plugged in or not! ive tried altering the sensor setting on my power fc too and it still makes sod all difference so i assume my sensor is goosed

Jez
05-01-2008, 11:44
The sensors I sell with work on retty much any Nissan :)
You need to do a proper check of the lambda sensor to see if its working properly. See if the voltage is swinging from 0 to 1v a couple of times a second.

Micraplay
05-01-2008, 16:50
i should be able to see that on the power fc commander shouldnt i?

Jez
05-01-2008, 16:59
Yeah, IIRC you can see it in the sensor check screen.

Micraplay

just been out and checked, turned on the 02-1 sensor function, then held the revs around the 2k mark. Got no reading for the o2-1 sensor. very occasionally when blip the throttle or something it will read 0.02v then flick back to zero.

If you think i need a new one, theni'll have one. A friend of mine is coming to you on monday morning with an S14 Silvia, quite nice it is too and i'll get him to get it off you while he's there.

also, is there a way i can adjust the TPS and CAS using the FC commander as a guide? I have a feeling they're both miles out. the TPS on the redtop SR is in a really crap place too! just so i can get it set reasonable until i have it mapped, i dont thrash it. (will be having a full map once ive sourced some nismo 555's and installed my tomei cams - anything else recommended like valve springs, stoppers etc?)

do i really need one? i currently run an aem afr wideband and use an safc 2 to adjust the fuel.

When does the original lambda come into play i.e what percentage of throttle or rpm?

I should really check mine first though:rolleyes:

my standard lamba is holding a constant 8v throughout the rev range causing it to over fuel and idle badly, have disconnected it and it runs alot better, would this point to a fooked sensor, this may seem a stupid question but i just wanna confirm it before i order a new one

Jez
17-11-2008, 10:27
We have them in stock

The trace you have there looks a bit odd - it should go up and down in a sine wave. Try holding the revs at 2500rpm and see what you get.
