Search for Bigtone and Richie... AFAIK Tone's hasn't done a proper run yet and has lots more to give. Richie's Norris built 200 was 'the' big powered CA18DET for ages when I first joined and it's still a bit of a legend now... A search will turn up videos and times I'm sure.

I've seen videos of CA18DET engined S13s in Japan running in the 8s.

I saw richie run an 11.4 at Santapod a few years ago. I think his car was quite capable of a 10 sec run but traction was a big problem.

Richie's ca18det was 637BHP@flywheel and top speed of 209mph. IIRC.

0-60mph in 3.4 secs and 0-100mph in about 7.x secs.

Richies quickest quarter from memory was 11.1 - he was going to crack a ten but cracked the block before unfortunately :(

IIRC the fastest recorded speed he did was 189, but I still remember the 0-100 on damp tarmac of 7.4 seconds :notworthy

Bigtones car will be quicker - I have no doubt of that at all. Definitely in the 10's :nod:

Does anyone else know the video I'm on about? I'm having difficulty finding it using the search, I'm sure it was posted around the beginning of this year. It's probably about 10 minutes long and it has drag racing in japan on top of a mountain. The course is only open a few months a year due to the snow. The commentary is in English and it has a pile of jap dag cars including 280Zs and stuff, but the really surprising bit is when as stock looking S13 does an 8 second run and the commentator tells you that it's still running a CA18DET.

Another bit people might remember is when the 280Z veers towards the central barrier but the driver keeps it planted, someone commented on that bit.

Docwra Richies best was 11.402 @ 129mph.

The crack was caused by trying to fit the deathstar of all turbo,s to trial fit it before he spent another fortune developing it to 800bhp:eek:
The manifold to block bolt hole showed a very thin, hair line crack after we pulled it apart and put it back togather thinking it was HG:annoyed:

Miss the ND car as i dont get picked up from work in it anymore.

As for Richie he plays with much bigger engines that go in the sky.

Oh and that means Big Bone Tone has the fastest ca18det but then again there power to wieght must be close.

Tones will go faster for sure.
Richies highest recorded power was 537@hubs at Thor, good enough for 11.4. Tone beat that on his first day at the drag strip with his car 11.32, I belive although running race fuel not on full boost so not its full 640bhp.

186.8 in 1 mile for Tone at attempt #1 Vs Richies 191mph in 1.7miles, that was smashed as well :smash:

Things have moved on leaps and bounds in the 2 years since I stopped messing with the old Datsun. I'm sure it wont be long now when Tone pops up with a 10sec vid, but for a nostalgic memory here is a little vid of the 'old girl'.

Thats almost correct. I made that run on 1.6bar boost and i have 497whp on 1.95bar. So i guess i only had about 500bhp on that run. So i can do 10s runs with a prepped surface and ful boost. :)
