I'm after one of these to try to keep my fuel costs within reason.

Does anybody have experience of the 190 and any advice as to what to look out for? I've tried the MB forum but don't seem to have anyone on there

Just taken a look at Parkers...2 versions of Diesel....

2.0D - 72bhp
Top Speed - 99mph
0-60 - 17.1secs
MPG - 43.5

(I think a Mk1 LandRover would be quicker :D)

2.5D - 90bhp
Top Speed - 108mph
0-60 - 14.2secs
MPG - 39.2

But I suspect I'd struggle to get 40/45mpg out of a Landie :(

Don't care about speed just about reducing fuel bills (which are truly horrendous at the moment) and having something worthless to leave on airport car parks for weeks on end.

If you're not bothered about looks and only about economy then how about a scrabbly Clio diesel? Superb fuel economy apparently. Or if you like something that looks a bit nice, how about a car like I'm running around to work and back in, an E28 BMW 518i? Mine currently turns in 40mpg, and it's rear wheel drive! :D

There's no way I'll take the scrabbly route ever again and I have a personal dislike for BMs.

No I've set my heart on a 190, just need to know about any pit-falls for when I go and look at some.

I know your not intrested in speed but those performance figures are terrible, don't they do a turbo deisel version??
