Just copied an 800MB file from 1 2Gig Etherchanneled Server to another in just over 30 seconds :eek:

I laugh at your feeble network speed :)
We have a SAN setup with fibre cards for the backup servers, can't remember the speed rating but it is ridiculous!!
Our normal corporate network is only 100MBps though ;)

Our SANs are all 1Gb fibre channel which plug into 1Gb ether to the core routers.
1Gb = about 100MB/s
1024Mb/8 = 128MB but not all of that is user data, packet headers etc...

I forgot to say, the data was being sucked off of a SAN before going across the Gigabit Network. :p
SAN is only Gigabit anyway.

We have calculated, that it is the speed of the disks that is the bottleneck. Ultra160 15K(RAID 5)..... can you get any faster.

ultra 320, then stripe loads of them. that'd be prety quick.
silly speed serial ATA in a few years mate ;)

Think the Compaq (HP) Storageworks only goes upto 160. :(
