Just taken out a ploicy with Greenlight and been informed that my insurance is not valid unless I provided proof a Thatcham 1 alarm is fitted. I did not buy this vehicle new so how do I go about doing that? I am quite put out by this at the moment as am I going to have to pay for a "VSIB approved installer" to verify my car has a factory fitted alarm???
One thought though, mine is a touring, do they not have the alarm fitted as standard?

If you go to http://www.thatcham.org click on security on the left hand side and then look at the vehicle security listings it has the S14 and S14a both listed in the CAT1 section.

A few guys have got a letter typed up by a Nissan dealer stating its CAT1 as well.

I am with Adrian Flux, changed mid term to my S14a and I was told that they would send the security declaration form through and when I received it just to write fitted as standard on it.:)
Not heard anything back so assume this was ok as thats what I'd been told to do.

I am with Greenlight and had the same rubbish from them.

I printed out an email from Nissan customer services but they have a list of thatchman approved alarms and the s14a's is on it. Its factory fitted so tell them to piss off and annoy someone who isn't paying thru the nose for the privilege of using their poop insurance company :)

Thats what I did.
