View Full Version : I fell asleep in the fast lane of the M11
Wasn't going anywhere though:p
Left Ely (just north of Cambridge yesterday at 4pm)
Got home (Billericay Essex) 5:15am this morning:eek:
13 hours

To top it off was trapped on M11 for 10 hours:mad:
Was chatting to a guy from Russia and even where is -40 they still manage to cope. Poxy Britain:mad:
I haven't eaten since 1pm yesterday an am now tucking into much needed food. Was too tired to bother when I got in this morning.
Oh and 200s are crap for traction when your nearly out of fuel:rolleyes: Although everyone on the M11 thought I was bonkers driving a RWD turbo in this weather:D:D:D:D:D
Oh and the rear wheel drifts I had on the M11 last night were mad:D
Blimey mate that was a bit unlucky. Just be glad u didnt run out of fuel :D
Average speed of 5.61 mph good going lol :D

'kin ell m8 that must have been fun.
I dread to think what 13 hours in an MR2 would be like, at least in a 200 you can recline the seat back and have a bit of a nap.
Were you just stuck, not moving, for 10 hours then ? or was it a case of creeping along at 1mph every so often, which'd mean not being able to at least get some kip??

Agree there Graham, was all over the place on the A120 lastnight, bloody terrible even when trying to move using idle it was gettin sideways.
Blimey Simon, 5.61mph doesn't seem so bad.... then again:rolleyes:
Good point Dave, never thought about anyone in an MR2 what a bugger:(
Totally agree with you there Mark, Everytime we got moving we would churn up the snow into slush get stuck then for 3 hours then the slush would have frozen then spend 2 minutes massive wheelspin just trying to get moving. Found the best tactic was to rock the car with 1st and reverse then boot it massive wheelspin but it did manage to get over the ridges formed by the frozen sludge.
Should have seen the look on the guy behind me's face:D:D:D:D:D

4 hours to get up the A12 last night. Got stuck on a hill, so found the best way was to do a massive wheelspin tomelt the snow and ice under the wheels, just so I could get traction. :D

Ah right, phew!!!, thought this was a recent incident!
Dave
Saw it on the news this morning - bad business, musta been fookin cold :(
I was out driving in the snow for the first time [in about 12 yrs] today - made a complete cock-up of it lol. Got stuck on an icy un-gritted hill...took over an hour to get up :o ...just kept getting stuck on the shiny bits. Then I span it on the way down the hill  How stupid was that? lol Have decided I'm gonna buy a 4WD fro the winter, I'm obviously not qualified to drive RWD in the slippy stuff :(

Where is Ely now?:p ;)
Just home an hour ago from working in nite club, was a fun drive home.
Was a little slushy on the way there, but coming out at 3 in the am was just blanket snow everywhere, think the gritters had got lost.
Half hour to get 5 miles to home, with only one point hitting non virgin snow, it was great fun, but a tad scarey hitting hills that u would think no problem until u start to slow down and down till ur stopped, but the speedo is still saying 50mph.
Found also its best just to spin the wheels up to melt the ice and wiggle ur way up the hill, police car that came up behind me didnt seem to impressed though, but i reckon he decided against getting out of his car in the blizzard to talk to me about it.
Was wiggling all the way home, even on the really straight roads, but decided to be sensible coming into my scheme and took it nice and easy, and ended up skelping a bloody kerb as the back swung out then suddenly got traction literally 10 yards from my parking bay.
Alloy is gonna nead to get re-coated..... again!:( :o
