When I bought the car it was slightly hesitant/restricted in the lower end of the rev range up until 4.5k ish rpm.

Last night we had a go at fixing it after advice gathered on this thread (http://sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=303184)(thanks people who replied). We checked the timing and it was at 12 deg, so following advice from a few members, it is now between 14 and 14.5deg.

Guess what, it pulls so much smoother now and I am well chuffed. Feels a lot quicker too :D

The reason for posting is that by what I can gather Norris Designs (Dave) built the engine and would have never put the timing belt on incorrectly, yet my CAS is turned almost to its furthest extremity now???

DID ANYONE HELPFUL MEMBER CHANGE THE CAMBELT? :sxoc:

I cant see any reason at all for it to have been done because the engine is not enough miles old (by what I can tell).

Loving her by the way  thanks to anyone who had a hand in her prior to me buying it  :D :sxoc:

Could just be worn CAS/cam splines, which way is the CAS turned to the extreme?

That is pretty sloppy on both counts.

Did you buy the engine new from norris, or buy it 2nd hand parker?

It was an ND recon lump fitted by them. I had no idea for ages until I took it to PTS with a load of running problems and that was identified as one of them.

madda. to the best of my knowledge the only engine part that was changed on ferrets engine was the water pump. the cambelt was never touched as far as i know.
the timing wasnt set with a snap on timing gun, only a light using the wire at the back of the loom hence why it was out a couple of degs.
