Hello,

Hope one of you can help (especially arry if he's about).

My mate at my work was hit up the backside at some traffic lights last night. The police were called as the other chap would not hand over is insurance details. The police managed to get his address and name out of him, but that was it.

My mate has now tried to get his insurance details off of him but he will not hand them over. Police reckon that he does not have to hand them over.

Is this correct? If this is so then surely no of us have to? I thought it was the law to do so!

:mad: Whats the fcuking point of having insurance if he doesn't have to give his details!??? What a c.u.n.t :mad:

Insurance makes my blood boil - my insurance has just gone up 200 quid :eek: even though I'm a year older and have one years extra NCB!! wtf!

Last year -

Age = 21
NCB = 3 years
Cost = £784 fully comp

This year -

Age = 22
NCB = 4 years
Cost = £950 fully comp

:mad:

exactly - what is the point?

Police say its up to the my mates insurance company to try and find out his details (could take 6months).

Meanwhile my mate will have to stump up £250 for the excess anyway!!

And to think my mate was minding his own business (stationary) at some traffic lights! Crazy.

Yes he MUST give his insurance details to the police..... who in turn should provide them to your friend.

He's best of getting on to his brokers - getting them to appoint "uninsured loss recovery agents" who will in turn write the Third Party a "without prejudice" notice asking for insurance details within 21 days, if he then doesnt produce these the ULR agents can issue proceedings against him for the cost of the repairs and more.

Hope that helps a little
