If you live in the london area, turn on BBC 1 at half 7, program about rich gits who own skylines and race them round the M25...... though it may be of interest.
dammit I've got Fawlty Towers again

That skyline had some bad accelleration.
If only my 200 was that quick *Sigh*
All of 8 mins long, and just an excuse for people with blinkerd views to bang on about banning radar detectors.
"o my daughter was killed by someone speeding through central london, these people who speed on motorways shoudl think about what they are doing"
Did your daughter go for long walks on motorways?
I know that sounds flippent, but i am enraged about this program,
My belife is that redar detectors are a good thing, and they take away the tendancy to watch your speedo all the time, leaving you to watch the road.
The amount of times i have nearly hit something that jumps out in a 30 limit, if i had been doing 35 and watching the road, i would have seen it long before and stopped well in advance.
And just before i get off my soap box, has anyone seen the telly advert showing a kid being hit by a car breaking at 35MPH.
The bit i like about this is way the back breaks have been disconnected, and dont work at all, the front ones are locked, and the back ones are merryly spinning away! (its too old to have ABS!)
End of rant, asending from soap box,

Yer and how it says it takes another 21 feet to stop at 5mph over the limit, maybe in the old sh*theap they used but not if you got decent brakes. Adverts like this should be monitored and banned for scaremongering
and if he was looking where he was going instead of looking out for cameras he'd have seen the kid stood in the middle of the road or the football he was chasing even.
The Highway Code - It's all lies. The distances in there are badly out of date considering the improvements in tyre technology and the width of modern day tyres.
Pah
Alg;)
And ABS :)
Plus you can whack the handbrake on too for extra control :D

Umm, ABS actually takes further to stop you! It just means that you can steer while yopu doing it:D
But I totally agree with the handbrake thing:p

Well thats crap innit. I mean, Who needs to steer, thats what the handbrakes for
'The only way to steer in the wet is with your right foot'
Alg;) (Just made it up but you can quote me:D )
if you've got BB, then you can stream the programme off the bbc website
Inside Out (http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/insideldn/insideout/speed.shtml)
man, that speedo rockets to 200 !
80 deaths in london a year are due to speeding, out of how many i wonder? I rekon a similar amount of people a year are killed in squirrel attacks :D
(In no way to i encorage speeding, nor do i ever do it myself,:o i just get pissed off when people dedicate their lives to very petty things like this, when there are far more important things to focus on, like war, famin etc etc. To these people i say, "get a life" )
(apologies to my soap box, its getting a beating tonight!)
I'm beginning to think that these programmes are gov. sponsored:mad:
What did they do the braking test in ????
A bloody crappy Focus:mad:
Get the R34 to do the same test and I bet it stops quicker at 200 than the bloody Focus managed at 60....(Ok maybe slight exaggeration but you get my drift :D )
"Why can't they keep it to track days???" (Quote in slightly mocking tone :D )
What kind of bollox statement is that?
Well let me see  Trackday costs lots of money and M25 is free mmmmmmmmm TW@T:mad:
Did you see some of the electronic gadgetary in that skyline! I dont know a lot about them but i recon that ent standard!
Think you brought down the london stock exchange with that onboard cray super computer!
Yep its all standard in the R34 :D:D:D:D
Top... Never have to buy a gauge again:D
God it even has a g-force meter (although I think you have to have the Vspec for that ? )

My brother and I were saying how totally biased that prog was.
Did you see the bit when they pretended to change lanes quickly! That had me in stiches, you mean come on, they said they don't do the 200mph thing when its busy, so why do such a pointless test!
Btw, what was that LCD screen that he had, lots of funny numbers showing shuff  I want one

Yep very true, Quintin Wilson did a test and proved this, used a car of when it was written (morris minor type crap mobile) and a focus, the focus pissed it, but the only modern car i know that did fail it was the lotus elise, by a fair bit aswell if i remember correctly, lotus called them back to change them i think. Or you could get some brakes like mine:D

I drove an early Elise. The brakes were truly dire.
There is a thread running on the GTR forum about this program, they are understandably very concened about the negative press on there cars.
Very biased report, which again wrongly points speed as the main factor in all accidents and that radar detectors are encouraging this. They had a go at the manufacturers of these devices because they were stating that they are safety devices because they show you accident black spots. That may not be the case, but surely speed cameras are guilty of the same mis-decription. We are led to beleive that speed cameras are safety device when they are clearly there to generate revenue!!
It also sounds like the in car footage they showed of the 200mph (indicated) run was actually shot in a different car on a German autobahn. They chose not to tell us this in the report. Biased?
Rant over
Nik
Now ive actually found the right page (mrmidgers! many thanks)
SPEED is only a factor (as the gov and all the other twats get funny)!!!! it is the individual at the end of the day, speed doesnt kill!!!How can speed kill?????? it is a word! its like saying a pile of dog poo can kill? well it would if you slipped on it, fell down a well and broke your leg and couldnt get out for week and died of starvation!!!!
so now poo is a killer!!! like speed!!! Sort it out talk the truth, bit hard i know with pollititions and all, change the highway code, if there happy with using out of date cars then unbiased? use a porsche, cant remember which one? but one could accelerate to a 100 and stop again in the distance a moggy could brake from 60!
 finished now!!!

Very true, very true :)
Dave
Fer chrissakes....
Everything kills!!!!
Oxygen kills us - its Oxygen that causes us to age, and therefore eventually croak. Ironic huh? The one thing we actually need to survive is actually the thing that kills us.
Highway code = complete load of twaddle. 5mph does not equal an extra 21ft. Not in any car built since the mid eighties.
200mph on the M25 = Can't comment as I'm not one for hypocracy. Suffice to say only the suicidal will do that sort of speed on anything less than deserted m-way. And its worth pointing out that they'll only do 200mph for very brief periods - the M25 is intrisincally one bleeding great corner, and only on the straight bits is 200mph gonna be a realistic option.
The current fad for sensationalism is reflective of the current ills of society. The media, pressure groups, police and politicians should learn to take a balanced view.
And that bloke saying 'my daughter was killed by a speeder in central london, therefore these guys are the same level' is complete bigotted blinkered rubbish. Thats like saying 'my relative was killed in a plane crash, therefore all planes should be grounded.'
Pathetic.
But, not as pathetic as the guys with the Skylines who feel the need to go public and further strengthen the case against the motorist, and freedom from Draconian restriction like automatic speed limiters.
