NILDRAM: www.getadsl.co.uk (£22 a month and fastest service and best reports)

Check out: The ADSL guide for proof.

I'm with Pipex as well. I went with them 'cause there was no setup fee whatsoever when I signed up, plus they didn't force that Alcatel modem on me. I went off and bought the much better rated Fujitsu modem.

Same here, I bought and installed my own internal modem.

Nildram gives me 576 too!
Feel free to give a mail about the modem, that inlcudes postage BTW. But no pressure!

Just got connected with Virgin. The reason that I went for them is that there is no yearly contract. You just give 30 days notice to cancel. It costs me £25 a month, no activation fee and I can buy my own modem or router. I went for the Thomson 510 V4 because I wanted a built in 10/100Mbs switch.

sound very good,
whats the conection fees and what they asking for the modem?
are these all on 12mnt contracts?
what does a 10/100mbs switch for?
is it better to get your own modem
thanx

Nildrams connection fees are half-price at the moment (£29.38)

This is a 12 month contract although if you pay more a month you can take out a 3 month minimum one (I believe)

All routers will have some kind of 10MB hub built in, some only 1 port (if you have a 4 port hub already for instace) or some 4 port etc. It's unusual for them to have 10/100MB as you don't even need 10MB because DSL is only 512k anyway ;)

It's better to get your own modem so you can choose, if you're uncertain, speak to the tech support Im sure they could recommend something (or us on here :) )

I purchased a router with a built in 4 port 10/100 switch because I use a computer as a file server and want a fast home network. Have a look at
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/
for details of all the service providers, hardware and a description of ADSL and terminology.

These boys
http://www.dslsource.co.uk/
sell the modems and routers at a good price.

is there any products offering over 650k for the same sort of price?(i dont have ntl or blue/y in my area)
does it make any difference the type/quality of the modem that is used?

I just got NTL 600kbs, it's £24.99/month.
Tested it yesterday at 622kbs.

Tested it lots of times actually, lowest has been 597kbs (just now).

i might be lucky and be the only one on the node or however it works but I'm as pleased as punch with it. :)
