if the 1 I want is gone, it'l either say reserved when u type it into the address bar, or it'll obviously have a full web page...Correct??
so if it's not been registered, who do I speak to about buying it? and will all companies have the ability to register any name not taken?
Ta :)
Phil
I went to uk2.net and searched. Tells you what is available and if it's available, you can register it there and then.
Hope this helps.:)

does any1 know if u can actually buy a domain name out right? or is a case of rent it cheap for 2 years then they massivly increase the price? I also would prefere no extension's, so www.*******.com as apposed to www.*******.uk2.com

Phil,
You have never been able to buy a name outright.. it's on a lease based agreement. I use ukreg.com. I registered my private company names .com/.co.uk/net + on other for I think it was about £40 for two years.
Si :)
I used www.beepdomains.co.uk - cheap :)

You can have just .com if its available. I have.
firevision.co.uk
alivewww.co.uk
Using those two, I got my domain name in .com and .co.uk forms, 100mb for space etc for 2 years - all for less than £65
I was quite pleased
Easily.co.uk is another good one.
.Co.Uk for £9.99 for two years and 20 emails forwarding address's and hidden url redirrection.
Also if you currently own a domain you are give first chance on buying it again.
