View Full Version : So, who's broken their car just before JAE ?
Bring forth the sob stories.
This thread is for those who will, after today , encounter unfortunate circumstances  , not for those who intended to rebuild the car, and left it until July to start the job

Thoroughly destroyed my engine on the way to Le Mans. Am hoping to sort it before JAE, but might not happen...
New engine hopefully going in the post soon. Second one in 13 months

For the last couple of months I've been planning to go from stage 2 to stage 3 and do an auto to manual conversion at the same time. I've got everything I need now, but I think I'd better postpone the start date until 28th July ;)
does smashing it a month ago count?

chewed up the woodruff key so needed a new crank :( and found loads of other annoying little bits to do along the way like the rusted out core plug and the leaking cam seal. Don't know why I thought it was a good idea to do a 5 stud conversion while the engine was apart and waiting for machining. now it's just a mad rush to get an MOT on it for the RR day next week then sort the holes in the boot out before JAE

Getting there...
Nout Major, But mines turned into a tractor so i need to get the turbo gaskets sorted. But might not get time before JAE. Maybe i should employ Aitch to change them for me there ;) lol
Blew the clutch to pieces and found more than a few rust holes in the underbody of it :(
time to get friendly with a good welder!!
I've got a trackday next week so anything's possible...
Im not driving mine now til JAE :wack: :ghey: ;)

Step away from the S14 Polo ............. ;) :D
Mine is good, apart from the engine, flywheel, gearbox, head and clutch all being in various different places :wack:
She'll be right though - new clutch arriving tomorrow, someone who can actually use a spanner arriving shortly afterward :D
went for the mot on monday and as I got it onto the ramps I dumped all my water out one of the pipes behind the plenum  thought that was it but the guy cracked on anyway. fired it up at the end to pass the emissions and it was pissing out, luckily pugger works next door so if I can get my phone to connect to the computer then I can show you how I sorted.
But it doesnt end there, last night on the way home it burst again (same pipe) I might add that I cut the dodgy end off the pipe and re-fitted it but it clearly wasn't enough. I'm gonna sacrifice my escort to find a length that will fit. pics to follow soon I hope.
Im not driving mine now til JAE :wack: :ghey: ;)
Same here :D
Just broke my NEW front bumper in too!! ASS!!
Beginning to look like a proper drift car :wack: (tie wraps & gaffa tape)
Mine needs...my new CAS fitting and retiming....and quite potentially a new turbo....we'll see...
yeh, ****ed mine up, both rear quarter panels, tip, never bond spoiler bits on:cry:  , phuckin devastated
and its not the paint comming off either, should have left it the **** alone:mad:

managed to toast my rear pads beating the arse out of the s14a chasing an evo 4. A true testament to the rest of the car tho if all of it held together right down to the rear pads. 18 quid for a new set and im all good. Oil change due now tho, so better start saving for the silkolene. Also got an oil cooler to fit so expect to hear a sob story soon when that goes wrong!
I think mine has developed a small water leak.:censored: Investigating tonight! And my whiney gearbox is getting louder by the mile. I'm considering running a book to see if my box will get me there abd back!

even more wow when you consider the pile of parts he started with, and the numpties he employed## to fit it, dismantle it, refit it, break it, scratch heads, scratch bollox, refit, dismantle, revise spec, start again, auto man conversion, brake conversion, suspension mod, oil cooler, etc etc etc
##employed as in, conned into popping round, and wouldn't release until sunrise:wack:
and mine has just put on the washer warning light, so doubt i will make it either:D
Well hoping not to tempt fate but my car is almost fixed and should be ready for JAE :D

lol, I'd love a house like Dans, its a cool little place, car parts in the lounge, a wicked drive and garden for cars and then theres the garage with all the engines and bits :notworthy
apparently he has food there too. not that we ever get offered any of it. the fooker:smash:

I've now broken something before JAE too, the top of my arm/shoulder ****ing hurts and I keep moaning in pain  I did it a few days ago picking up my bag and something went, the pains got worse and I'm walking round with my hand in my pocket like Jade Goodys crazy disabled lesbian mum :wack:
Actually I broke something on the car today too :annoyed:

i didnt even bother trying to go to JAE, knowing full well that the odds were against me with the 20% road time my car has.

Me too. New brakes, new radiator, new valve body for gearbox, new dumppipe
all here but I dare not fit anything until after JAE.:annoyed: :D
Fook, managed to catch a kerb slightly last night going off my mates drive, ripped off the drivers side inner arch liner, cause a leak from the washer bottle and damaged the drivers side of the engine undertray. The arch liner came straight off and went under my car and I just ripped the under tray part off because it was hanging off in shreds. B*llocks :(
gearbox is fcuked by the looks of things - 5th gear crunches like mad. Might make it, in 4th :wack:

Tis ok, you dont need arch liners, washer bottles or under trays. Just think of it as weight saving
Hit a rabbit this morning and its taken a chunk out of my front bumper, and split it a bit. Looks like a bit of fibreglass and some filler tonight will fix it, maybe even without removing the bumper, but probably won't get around to polishing it now :(
Fitted loads of parts this week, managed to go for a 20 mile test drive this morning and now my new driftworks sump is dripping oil

What are you lot winging about:wack: my car seems fine ATM but if any thing happens it will still be going with me, wether its on the back of a flat bed or in my poket, i and it will be there:D

got the engine all fixed AGES ago, wont start, no spark. loom is all out EVERYWHERE. it's not gonna make it
I thought I'd boloxed mine tonight - changed the rear pads and on the drivers side the caliper bolts weren't having any of it. I tried everything; smoking, swearing, having a brew, frowning... but it wouldn't have it. Then they just decided to bite and in they went
Got a black eye for my troubles though - the spanner slipped off the nut when it was tight and I mananged to get a spanner-clutching fist in my eye :wack:
just got mine back into one piece, new track rods, ends, g/box mounts carbon Bonnets on:smitten: etc
Not completly fixed but in one piece and ready to get soaked:D
See you all there:nod:

I nearly had my leg broken
I was walking to the car valet place to pick the car up and a truck was coming towards me, heard a noise then a big metal hubcab or something came flying off in my direction. Good job I was walking slowly or it would have slashed my leg
Had a fat tw-t of a cow stand on my foot this morning, but nowt seems to be broken  screamed though I think that was more to make the cow move off quicker. The unfortunate thing is when they stand on your foot, at first it hurts, but it gets worse as it usually moves its other legs first before moving the one on your foot.
I fibreglassed the bumper last night, and put some filler on and will spray it when I've finished my dinner. Should look as good as it did (bit iffy at the best of times actually :wack: )
The Legacy has just started smoking and it tastes like coolant:eek:  I`m hoping its just from the new exhaust i just put on that came of a car being broken:smash: :smash:
If not i`m not sure what i`m going to do, either load up the rex or not bother going, I hope the Legacy is ok:cry:
