I have some rather lush 9x17 Advan Super Racing three spokes.

They are ANODISED blue on the inner lips (about half way - as far as the start of the three spoke joins) and black on the middle.

I need them refurbed, but also re-anodised...

What the hell and how and more importantly... WHERE???

Standard filler will not take up anodising and this would look silly...

Whats peoples thoughts?

:sxoc:

aaah so it was you who bought Leeq's rims. after just (ok not just but it's still fresh in my mind) refurbing a set of advans I'd say bin them  evil satanic rims

My thoughts would be to have them acid dipped (it's bloody impossible to get them clean otherwise IMO) and then annodised

It won't be cheap mind  (I was told not to bother when I wanted my advans re-polishing :wack: and ended up doing it all by hand)

most people won't touch anodized, and I've tried a LOT of people in the attempt to refurb my LM GT4s :(

if you find anyone, please let me know too!

Evil satanic car.. should match up well then!! haha...

I reckon your miffed at doing them by hand. Hell, Im not surprised!! To be honest, I know Wonder Wheels in Guildford would do a stonkingly good job stripping and smoothing etc back to perfection. Trick is... mmm the anodising. And its anodising - on Half of it!

Well I will just struggle on with them as is I reckon. Needs new boots - he has a pin or nail in one of the rears. Which needed redoing anyways - he has a very fast Rex indeed.... Besides, I love the feel of brand new boots - its just amazing on a car... all round new shoes.. wooooo.

Will keep an eye out for anodisers. Thinking about maybe 3D grafton purple if you know what I am talking about (cooks bros?) downhill racer... bit of old school anodised pimp aluminium for you there ;)

Are they badly damaged? They look alright from what I can see in the pictures, do you just want them freshened up a bit, or is any damage only minor and be OK to just file/sand down smooth before anodising?

Getting them done will probaly be fairly easy, just that wheel refurbers won't do it, you need a specialist surface prep company. It could be tricky to find one with an oven thing big enough. Is the blue the only anodised bit? As you may have to get the whole thing done blue and then the rest of the wheel painted/coated afterwards which will really add it up :(

No they arent damaged - no flat spots either. A couple of them have some kerbing - but the two back ones with the dish are fine barring a couple of scratches. The front ones, well, think he used them to guage distance to the kerb.. Either that or the tyres he used werent wide enough to have the rim protector actually be used for what they were intended :whip: Will see how it goes. Not getting into serious refurb time just now as house purchase beckons.. as does uprated suspension etc.
