FFS why is this so much fcuking hassle  :(

I've finally got the insurance docs through so I can tax and drive the 200.

Go the first post office ..

"6 months tax please"
"Sorry sir we dont do car tax" WTF??? oh well,
"Any idea of where I can get some"
"Wivenhoe can do the tax for you"
"Thanks"

Drive to Wivenhoe (about 2 miles away).
SHUT!! FFS

Think, aha, only other postoffice at the Uni. Now I cant go to the uni in the 200 because it will get clamped. So I drive home, pickup the nova (with a parking sticker) and drive to the Uni. Aware now that Im gonna be late for lunch and run through Uni (looking like nob). Have to fill out a different form because I don't have the V5. Fill it out then go back to desk. Sorry sir, the MOT certificate has a different reg number on it. YOU FCUKING WHAT!!!! Now I hadnt checked the MOT I just assumed it was right (it is their job after all). So, no tax, no mot, late for work.

AND TO TOP IT OFF!!

I'd left my sandwiches in the 200 (back at home) expecting to go home and pick it up to come to work in.

so Im pissed off and hungry  LEAVE ME ALONE!!! GRRR :(

Post offices are fuking $hite.....they have the handy knack of either being closed when you need to use them (in your lunch hour) not providing the service you want or putting a card through the door saying you've got to get out of bed on Sat morning and drive 5 miles to pick up your porn DVD's from the depot cos they didn't fit through the fuking letterbox:mad: ........bastids they are.

PO's are indeed useless. I remember trying to buy tax a few years ago when I lived in Wales. Queued up for friggin' ages with all the pensioners, gave all the documents to the old baggage behind the counter, only to be told I couldn't have any tax because it wasn't Tuesday

Apparently this perticular post office were only willing/able to tax people's cars on Tuesdays

I drove around with no tax for 4 days instead :)

LOL!

I've been considering that but with an invalid MOT certificate too, I think I'll wait ;)

"With great power comes great responsibility"

You have to be tested you see as only the people with the right stuff get to drive and own a 200 ;)

It's all checks and balances, you own a stonking car so life has to get you back in other more subtle ways :)

Dave
The one good thing about Colchester is that there are many many wonderful places to get your tax, my personal faves are opposite the food place in Marks Tey, grumpy old witch behind the counter who get's really wound up if you use blue ink or if you're nice to her, really handy for the A12 though.

Or Dedham post office as it's a nice drive down there and you can go and feed the ducks afterwards.

Keep smiling

Its a strange one, basically when I was getting the rebuild done the company who had the block, crank etc etc couldn't get the timing belt sprocket off, it had to be machined off in the end! it was suggested to me that maybe the front pully hadn't been done up enough and it had wobbled about and pushed the timing belt sprocket too much and caused it to sieze.

Basically whats happened is that front pulley has worked its way lose (when I bolted it all up I did it to the correct torque and used loctite on it!) and its mullered the woodruff key and the groove in the crank, I have to get the crank out and get the key slot welded and re-grooved, but as i'm fitting a new front pulley and timing belt sprocket I have to get the front pulley/crank and flywheel all balanced together again :(

bummer :(

Thought you might have bent it or something.

Are the bearings going to be OK do you think - if the front pulley was vibrating loads could it have buggered the mains?

I don't know what the bearings look like yet, i'm hoping to take the engine out in the next couple of days :(

You're not the only one Dave. Here is my "Car purchase" story....

Buy car
Drive home. Caned it to feck with Steve C behind. Pull up at home, look at my new toy. Feel tyres. Hmmm, warm. Only H rated! I was doing 140 on the way home!
Next two days, wont start. Cal RAC both days. They say I have flooded it.
Take it to SE for "blow-over". Turns into three week respray.
Get car from SE, diagnosed with sha99ed inlet valves.
Went to what was to become Dragon Autosport. Had head rebuilt, ported and polished with 5 new inlet valves.
A week or so later, have a night out with Taff and Steve C.
We were a bit drunk that night so had hangovers the next day.
Pick car up at 1pm, drop Steves car back at his. Go to get car tax.
Mersea road is now shut (Half day opening). Decide to go to Stanway rather than town.
Get car tax. Cool. Car playing up. Changed water pump (which requires cam belt removal/refit - never done this before either). Did this twice. Still making odd noise and not running right. Dragon or whoever they were then deny responsibility saying it needs abottom end rebuild and that it was dodgy water pump.
SE spend a few hours cleaning all the sensors up and connections. Works fine.
Two weeks after I got car tax, a photo of my car arrives through post.
Id been clicked on the way to Stanway outside Kent Blaxhill!!!

I then bought a set of lowering springs, got 3 points and £40 fine.....:(
