Ah! Did we flash each other at some point? I think I was on the way to the petrol station when I saw you and gave you the sx nod/wave/flash (of headlights... ).

How did you get on?

Aye, and I'll be back. I have post ring blues now. :(

What a cracking circuit. And, if I say so myself, car and driver on top form.

Only used two thirds of a set of front pads, a full set of rear pads, 1/2 litre of oil and I now have a rather tired clutch.

Time to start planning the next trip!

i loved my trip, shame i couldn't hook up with a few of the sxoc for a beer but there is always next year  :D

i had a niggly missfire all the way over but only on full chat  but once on track it cleared up - strange.
got on track and went round at a steady 'siting lap' pace to check for damp sections etc but ended up giving it more beans than antisipated.

far too much body roll so i set the coilovers up to their hardest setting front & rear. did another few laps over the next few days and decided it was a bit 'skitish' (sp?). set a 9min 41 on this set up.

knocked 5 turns from the rear and 3 from the front and the car really behaved well through the bends, settled more and didn't skip so much.

for a full weight road car it stuck like sh1t to a blanket, i was well pleased with the way the car behaved.

monday morning saw Sabine doing some promo work, fully clothed i'm affraid. she was in a Mc Merc SLR doing some high speed runs....

....racing a stunt pilot down the main straight :notworthy :smitten:

look how bleeding low he flew and he got lower too

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d21/G20BEN/IMG_2028.jpg

Anyway  my final lap was fantastic by my standards, just me and a tuned Civic Type R fairly close the whole way round, no other traffic, neither of us could shake each other off but we were never close enough to put each other under pressure, great racing, i mean driving :D

that final lap i set a time of 9min 20.8s - very pleased indeed :D

for fu*ks sake take it steady, there are some corners that really creep up on you, you sometimes don't realise how fast your going. every day do a siting lap, nice and steady, make note of the road surfaces, they change from grippy to slippy, and stay off the apex kurbs. if i think of owt else i'll let you know

indeed we did the sxoc flash.. haha

it was my forst time and it goes verry(?) well,
my suspension was much to hard, and the car to low..

did the ride hight a couple cm higher and then it was fine..
i lost my innerarche's and my washer hoses.. haha

in a couple of month's i go again,

learned a lot that day,

Seriously. It demands some respect. Apart from a mental picture of roughly where the track goes, forget whatever you've done on your xbox or playstation. It demands a lot of respect, especially in the wet. The temperature and moisture on track can vary substantially from section to section, making it tough predict grip levels. There's some nasty off camber bits too.

Even in the dry it will be much steeper than you expect. As you build up to things you will realise that there are some places you simply can't go as fast as you thought.

Having said that, there are some sections which are alot faster than you ever thought  It's a fantastic track for learning to use the geography to control the car, along with the other 3 elements (brake, gas and steering) There are some up hill bends which require no braking, and some down hill section that will turn you the wrong way if you lift off and don't trail the throttle.

But enjoy it

How hard is it? I'm as low as I can go at the back, and pretty low at the front. I run 8kg/mm front and 6kg/mm at the rear, with 32PSI (cold) at all four corners) and it's perfect.

Mind you, that's with pretty sticky tyres.

Not so excitied, just a little scared I will be getting a lift back from Germany now. hmmm
No seriously the only things that will be going slower than me will be erosion and possibly evolution.
My idea was to spend the whole first two days going slow and learning the track so at least the car will not be shot after that.
How did you get on with tires, did you need a new set?

i run Dunlop sport 9000's, reallt good directions road tire. they were fantastic round there of course they are worn but keep the car smooth and they'll not wear that much, make sure you've got fresh brake pads tho unlike me who has ruined rear pads and discs

i think it was too hard because i bounced from curb to curb, haha( but with controle)
a friend drive's a s2000 (completely stock and that car was amazing controleble.),(maybe because he is a race instructor in holland)
after my laps i drove with him and he learned me how to read/drive the cirquit
and i was amazed about the handling of the honda..

i had the same (i think) tein flex.??
in the front i have 225 40 18 bridgestone 2.1 bar
rear 255 35 18 2.2 bar

in carrosel i hit the floor with front bumper. haha
and decided to set it higher..
also my inner arches are gone.. haha

but i really have a great experiance and i love my car,,

next time i do things different... (learned a lot that day)

As said, do not, and I repeat, do not underestimate the Ring, even if people are tempting you, even if a "-damn-I-can-take-him-on-piece-of-crap-golf-" tarts you (and probably one will), keep u'r cool and just learn.

What I found the most valueble were some laps as a passenger to get familiar with the G-Force u don't get from the Playstation and camber-differences in the roads. The PS2 / GT4 is a good game to let u remember where the "really" sharp turns are, like the chicane after a few longs straights which allot of people fly straight thru, so deffo worth a play IMO.

But the thing I did overlook my 1st time a bit though was money :D, as one lap at 16€ (back than) doesn't look much but u'll want an other, and an other and ano....before u know it u'r calling u'r mum to transfer some more damned money for "nice cheal clothers u have found :D" to fill up the car to get home lol.

So take into account u'll use allot of fuel, especially on the Ring, accomodation, food, telephone, ring fare, beer if u'r a drinker (Í'm not :) ) etc
