View Full Version : Peugeot dealer has dented my mate's car. What can he do?
A friend of mine recently took his 3 year old Peugeot 206 to the local dealer for a service. When he collected his car, he found a scrape along the corner of the rear bumper and fecking great dent and crease in the bottom corner of the panel where it meets the bumper. The panel is fecked and it's lost paint. Looking at the panel, it covers the rear and goes along the roof and goes all the way down the A-pillar the other side to the front wing. To be honest, there's no chance of fixing the panel and it'll have to be replaced. Looks like they've scraped against something while reversing around and then squeezed the panel hard. They are DENYING it. He argued with them for about 20 minutes, but they still deny it. I've suggested that he phone Peugeot UK and complain about the dealer, but what else can he do? If he has to pay to have this panel replaced himself, it will no doubt cost him a fortune :(
If he can prove that the dent was not there when he took the car in, then he's laughing.
If not, then there are some options. Create a scene on teh showroom floor and don't be moved into a side room (not recommended).
Speak in person to the dealer principle.
Then call Peugeot UK HQ.
Go back to speak to the DP, sales manager and aftersales manager.
If all of that fails, take a phone call in the middle of the conversation from "someone who works for the local paper". It is amazing what a little adverse publicity will do.
THe final option, prolly too long winded, is to go through the AutoExpress or WhatCar consumer "helpdesk" or whatever it is called.
Don't let it drop though.

:)
When they take your car they should have an inspction piece of paper detailng any dents or problems with the apperance of the car which your mate should sign, if they dont have this, they have no leg to stand on and must fix the dent.
Golden Rule: All Dealers are w@nkers (allegedly;) ).
They charge £50 an hour, do an average job and squeal over any queries.
