Ok guys this one might interest you, but I'll need a show of hands. Basically we all know there is a lack of rear light mods for our cars. So i've been in contact with one of the biggest makers of aftermarket rear light cluster.
They produce all styles from lexus to silver smoke etc.
http://www.sxoc.com/images/bb/vbbimages/clear.jpg
What do you guys think if I could sort something. Also if anyone has some spare clusters I might need them to get prototypes made up.
Si :)
as with everything, it all comes down too price. but, yes, i would be interested in something for the 14, any idea what they have in mind design wise.

Last quote we had was somethin rediculas (well to me) like £300-£400
Its something that could truly do with replacing on these wagons the s14 looks particularly dated from the rear.
Its going to be as difficult as redesigning the mini i recon!
As jibber said, price will be a big part, but the design is going to be critical.
If their cool, i'd be interested, dont have a huge attachment to the rear lights, but dont want to ruin the look of the car!
Sounds good though, get some piccys or something.
Or, as i get board easily at the moment, give me some ideas and i'll put my degree in industrial design to work (first time since i graduated!) See what i can come up with, have a look through lax flower, see if i can find anything.

Skyline stylee? Would have to do something with the centre panel too. Hmm.
sroberts
20-01-2003, 18:42
Phatty I'll see what they come up with (no promises though :) ) but it will all really depend on how many people really want them.
Si :)
I like the arse lights on the option motorsport s13. Aren't they a revision of the late models from japan ?
In fact I think the s13 was being built and revised up till 2000 wasn't it ?

What does everyone think to the smoked silver ones at the top, not sure the lexus styled saxo type ones would suit the 200. Oh this is not going well :(
Si :)
difficult to say without seeing them, the back of a 200 doesn;t look much like a yaris!
Anyone got a decent piccy of the back end of a 200 they could put up on here, then we could try something......
yeah man, i dont mind, anything to get a more modern look on the S13. I'd really like some that look like the new BMW front lights (round circle of light) or the Skyline rear lights.
I also agree on price, it's got to be in the 100 quid mark for me, anything more than 150 could be MUCH better spent on go-faster bits
sroberts
20-01-2003, 19:15
I know, but I don't thiink they will make prototypes up without enough interest. I though this thread would be burning by now, maybe I was wrong :(
Si :)
its just style things are difficult for people to imagine and say yes i like that without seeing some initial ideas, all we need do is try some visuals, get peoples opinions of them, then i think you'll get loads of interest....... someone give me a picture, would take one of mine, but its dark!:(
Dont give up yet.........

Thats it booting the MAC up latter if I've got time, gonna get down and dirty in photoshop.
id be very interested if we could knock together something like the "kouki" rear lights for the s13...... look the nuts but i could never justify that amount of money to buy em :(

Talking of picture Phatty... any new ones on the way
I see what I can do with visualising them on the back of say an S14a.
Si :)
I'm interested.
Was thinking of spraying them myself like Phattys but I'm open to other ideas
(Yeah Skank I know but it does look smart:p )
:D
Laugh if you like but its an idea,
The lexus style, knicked from a honda accord......
Check my next post...........
(hang on having ftp problems - ah, there it is, could look very good, with the boot lit changed as well.)
Yes mate, there is a severe lack of rear lights available for S13's, so id really be interested in any aftermarket sets, any ideas what youd be looking at doing??

Kouki or Skyline style for the s13, but i can't see them making them for around a ton!!
http://mysite.freeserve.com/nissan200/lexus.jpg
would look tons better with the center done as well, but thats more work.
actually smiffads attempt dont look that bad, one or two constructive comments tho, instead of having the areas around the light units in clear, how about just in black abs, then you could paint whatever colour you like, and , the centre section will nead sorting, just a straightforward copy of original but in a paint freindly material, maybe with the reversing lights moved closer to the edge and round instead of rect.. just some thoughts..
smiffad, looks good, i'd want the middle section to match.
price it a big factor,
Ideas absorbed and acted upon..........
http://mysite.freeserve.com/nissan200/lexusboth.jpg
Got to say i'd buy a set of the first ones, but i biast,
if you get em made, can i have a free set :D ?
p.s. has anyone got a decent ftp client i could knick!
Right,
I like so far...:D
Anyone seen I think its Banzai this month?
There is a Supra in there with skirts with Supra etched into it.
How about the same across the middle, keep the clear thing going all the way across though as just corners is looking a bit crap on its own. 200SX across the middle would look mighty fine me thinks and would be up for that.
I know it would cost a bit more but I would certainly rather pay a bit more than end up with something that looks like its had the old Saxo clear corners treatment:(
Over to you smiffad:D:D:D:D
Well here you go, this is the best i can do for now, getting tired :(
hang on, image coming  Bloody FTP
Aha!
http://mysite.freeserve.com/nissan200/lex.jpg
Let me know what you think, any other styles you want tried?
If anyone finds another style they like, in a similar shape, post it on here and i'll see what i can do. These were knicked from a honda accord, as they have similar shaped back lights!:D
going to bed now........
Well these ones got a good response in the other thread.
They are from a nissan sentra, They have a very simular light arrangement to the 200sx.

Cheers, i can go and pass out a happy man.............
Will have a go at a few more tomorrow ev if i find the time.
Laters.
i have been toying with the idea of using either the new seat ibiza lights or the new mazda 6 both seem to have simular lines seeing as there are some good computer people on here save me a few £ so i can see what they look like!!:D
These are quite nice

They are from a maxima

LOL:D
Totally agree with you:D:D:D
It really gets on my nerves that the ex-missus can buy lexus style lights for her saxo for £120 but there's nothing available for the 200, I've 2 cans of light tinting spray sat on the shelf at home, 1 black and 1 red, was going to tint them black and then changed my mind!
Still undecided hence 2 cans on the shelf!
Anything around £150-£200 I'd be interested in, much more than that I'd rather spend making my car go faster!

Ok guys been off doing other things ;) and it looks like smiffad has done a good job for me. :) I decided to have a ago to see waht other light units could be knida butchered onto the back of an S14 (I'll have a go woth a 13 next :p ).
What do you think...

In the mean time if we keep having a show of hands I can get back to the company and see what they come up with.

Sorry but you were a bit too late as I already ordered a set of those:

FIAT@'''''==-=-+-@]'?#/~NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:) ref the supra lights???? like but not sure i would realy like to see them against a red car with a carbon fibre boot with the middle light cluster in carbon, as in one bit ?that would help me no end!!!!:D :D :D :D :D
You obviously have finer attention to detail than me! or more patients, I though it was a proper photo :D
If you can get something like that sorted, i'll have a set as long as they are sensibly priced.
Although, on looking at it again, how would the boot fit into this?! looks like you may need to re-style it a tad!
If Cookie can source those lights at the right price, i'm in !
Is it not possible for somebody who has the skills to "butcher" the rear part of the skyline to fit ?
If the car is often mistaken for a skyline the lights would set it off.
Ill try later, find me a picture, cant remember what they look like
Think they would look cool, cos i know the skyline does!
:D

What , if you want a set of those i can get you a price but you are going to have a serious play to get them to fit an S13 or any car except a maxima.
I'll see if the company would do a set for the 240sx (S13 or S14) but i don't thing it is likley to happen, i posted them as an idea.
Your comment makes 5 people interested in the style, so i think it is winning at the moment

Nice one kevin_s14 but I am affrade those ones are straight of my drawing board. Its more likely to be like the ones on the yaris.
Has one guessed yet:rolleyes:   .... it's Algie's car. Though with a respray... and some nice 19's Volks Racing TE37's and dual Apex'i GT... and modded supra lights :)
Si :)
I rekon your purple creation is the best looking so far, just the functionality of em, redesigning the boot might turn out expencive.
BUT, what if you split em between the two red lights, and put half of em on the boot? with something joinging them to cover the boot back...... just a thought.:)

Sorry, what I meant to post was if Simon (not the Cookie Monster) can get some made up in that design, i'm interested. But like everyone else 150+ for lights could be far better spent on go faster bits
Si, would be cool, but not after the sh1te i went though to try and get that flashing example to look half decent! Think i might stick to illustrating instruction manuals, fun stuff.......

two months ago or slightly longer i spoke to a company called quad conversions regarding making me a set of one off lights, they told me i would have to send them my rear lights along with a small sum of money i think the guy said something like 200-250 quid ( www.quadconversions.com ). I think if enough of us stock pile them with e-mails regarding s14 lights. just going to e-mail them the now to see what they say

I've just got on these boards today, and I've seen a car with a decent rear light conversion on one of the threads which no-one seems to have mentioned. Doesn't look like a photoshop effort as it's a signature photo.
Check out Chimp's car on this thread (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30779)

Those are really Chimps rear lights, hes just altered the picture for that "high on LSD" look ;) :D :D
