A mate with a scooby reckons that they hit peak boost in 4th gear at 3k - 4k rpm - all fair enough but all this at 25% throttle??

I'm pretty sure that my car wouldn't even be on boost at this speed. The gauge would be reading vacuum because the throttle flap is restricting the airflow but if I plant it then it does it's usual shoot up to 0 psi then from there, proceed at a slower rate up to peak boost in about 3 seconds. If I was already on peak boost, it would whip round the dial not so?

Yeah but they have pissy poor small turbos ... he my be on full boost by 4k .. but at 5.5k its all bled back off.

Like to see him hold 20psi to the red line in 5 gears without bleeding ... whoo hooo for the t28 and HKS FMIC ... oh and this cold weather ! :D

What, the scooby turbo is smaller than the standard S14 one??

I thought so .... maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they were designed with quick spool up turbos, higher compression ratios and smaller gearing, to give them quicker 0-60's but expense of top end power ... Or is that the older Evo's I am thinking of ????

I do know as stock, my mates scoob would always beat me off the lights, even with a 20mph rolling start .. but 11 seconds later ... I was always infront and happily pulling away .... maybe just transmission loss, but the scoob still had more power from a rolling start where the grip equation no longer played a part.

Of course I never kept with him round a single bend, or through traffic :(
