View Full Version : Polishing.
Just bought a black 106 GTi as a runabout while saving for the new silvia. There are a few stone chips and scratches on it and I just want to make the car look a little better. I use auto glym shampoo and ultra deep shine wax but the white chips are very visible. Just wondering if anyone has used the turtle wax colour magic and if it is any good?
run a rotaty buff over them..to see if it smoothes them down and mite remove them..if it doesnt touch up pen is the only answer or get them painted
Painting isn't going to happen. It would cut into the money saved for the Silvia. This is just a runabout but I have always liked my cars to look as best they can. I don't like electric buffing black paint though... (Also I'd have to buy one of those!!) Although, thinking about it, it may be a solution to give it a go.

just used turtle wax colour magic on mine and tbh it dont seem that different, the colour stick imo is good though
Hmm. Maybe just get a colour stick then!
Touch up paint + wet sanding + polish will sort it out on a budget...
If its a runabout why worried about stonechips? ;)
The white will be dried polish from the AG... use some degreaser and a tooth brush to remove them then use a polish that doesnt leave white residue behind... it will look much better.

Cheers! Always good to get a pro's advice! ;) Will give the touch up/sand/polish a go when its dry! What grade wet and dry paper would you advise?
'Just' a runabout but I always take care of my cars. They must look their best (I hate driving a car thats dirty/broken/scratched etc!) Maybe I'm too picky but then thats why I spent 3 months looking for a S13 in the condition of the one I eventually bought! Then sold  due to lack of money to run it! Now saving for another, better one!
