In a kind of "years gone by" style..

What cars, maybe from past ownership, do you miss due to them just being too old now to be seen about?

What I mean is, what sporty cars are going to be missed seeing as they get too old/rusty/high mileage.

I will never miss a Nova though!
Sh!t just realised I mentioned Nova and sporty in the same thread. Tie me down and stone me with barnacles!

The obvious : S13 :(

I am determined to get a top of the range SR20DET equipped 180sx, but I think it'll be too late for me by the time I've finished paying off my current s13.

Gotta agree there, had a white 2.8 special with half leather years ago, great car. Also TR7 convertible with V8 conversion I had was good fun

Used to love my old Mk2 Cortina 1600GT, pretty quick in its day and the Rover Vitesse SDI twin plenum

My dads old Datsun 240z, was immaculate, only 20k miles, straight six with triple carbs, got stolen by some fcukwits, it's what got me into RWD :)

Although not sporty, my breadvan shaped blue Polo.

16v GTI wheels, lowered, blue interior light and the all important Vanilla majic tree.

I could get 3 bikes in the back and it'd sit @ 80 mph all day. Not bad for an 18 year old motor. Only had one owner and 30k on it as well when I sold it.....

Damn......

This was a great motor:

I spose 200's are a sort of modern day Manta really, but still have viscious fans!!!

My mate had this Capri:

Funny that - my mate was into Capri's... You were either for the Capri, or the Manta - never both

Saw a clean '86 GTE Coupe in East London yesterday.

Considered stopping him and offering cash - just fancy having another one..

Then I remembered that with the Merc, the spare engine and box for the merc, the Nissan, and the impending baremetal respray on the Merc - I don't have the room, time or money to do one to the standard I want.

Having said that, I'm off to Autotrader to see how much I can squander on one....

I've still got a set of lowered springs and some sideskirts in my garage if you're interested:D

That'a Tickford! they're worth ££££'s!

Looks a bit rusty though

EDIT: No it's not, it's just a 2.8i with a body kit, isn't it...

Yep, well spotted 2.8 with a Tickford kit. It did have the turbo on at one point, was fast as fook and made a lovely noise.

Yep, I hated people calling my Manta a Capri......Manta's generally made it round corners, Capris cornered like arrows ;)

Top car, I really miss mine. I was looking at the Manta V8 register the other day......hmmmmm
www.mantav8register.org.uk

And to everybody who thought the Sil80 bitsa concept was new.....

http://www.mantav8register.org.uk/images/Mancona.jpg

Ascona front, Manta rear looks like a scaled-down version of the
rare-now Opel Commodore coupe.

My absolute favourite....

I also miss the old RWD Escorts, RS2000, Mexicos and Lotus Sunbeams.......

I know someone who has a Chevette HSR. 2.1 Pinto with twin carbs. Goes sideways easier than anything else I can think of. Seems quite quick too.

My first car 1980 Rover 2000TC P6 gorgeous I thought! Also 1962 Hilman Imp in racing green twin carb (£37.50 at auction)! Every time I hit a bump another bit would fall off but I loved it.

Si :)

The chap that maintains the Merc is a quattro specialist, and he looks after one.

Very tasty
