excellent footage:) skyline looks a bit tailhappy on corner exit, fairplay for holding some of those slides:clap:
like the real racers touch of cracked screen from hitting those kerbs hard:thumbs:

Well, more from *ahem* not doing the bonnet pins up but thanks for the benefit of the doubt :wack:

Its defo set up for drift! Lol :D

apt's evo looks crazy fast with zero lag!

looks awesome fun! didnt look like there was anythug else there that could keep up! :)

lol dont worry i wont tell anyone cos ive had a bootlid flyoff for the same reason:thumbs:
they look pretty evenly matched, albeit you seemed to have to work the wheel a bit more than the Evo driver so even more impressive:clap:

It is very responsive  Our Skyline really responded well to running cams but we didnt fit them to the current engine and it really suffers with midrange grunt as a result. The new engine should be done soon so should gain a good 70bhp

I did have to work hard, Gary had some footage from inside his Evo and he doesnt have to do as much to keep the Evo on track  But then the Skyline was set up for drift so its to be expected. It was very sedate when it started to slide so easy enough to keep in a straight (ish) line.

Ive changed the springs since then so its now less inclined to slide but is a little snappier when it does start to go.

i think you are playing down youre driving skills mate, i doubt any slide at that speed and in a big heavy motor like teh skyline is 'sedate', snettertons hardly a nice slow circuit.
PPG box sounds lovely:smitten:
bet you cant wait for the S14 to get out on track

Still watching it, have you tried dipping the clutch a few times on corner exit to spool the clutch faster?

Nice vid, fix your windscreen :smash:

bren
21-05-2007, 19:37
Nah, Im just waiting for ther next engine as itll have the Poncams back in it which will do the job for me  Im not sure Id be too keen on dipping the clutch on corner exit, its sideways happy enough as it is without dipping the clutch to get the power in earlier. Left foot braking would be the answer if I could do it, which I cant. And Im too lazy to learn at the mo as, like I say, the next engine will sort the mid range anyhoos :)

Screen will be done this week

very neat driving and obviously a capable car but im not a fan of 4wd for serious track cars, it seems that a helluva lot of time and money has to be spent getting over the 4wd system disadvantages to allow a small grip advantage. Decent chassis setup and tyres and rwd is just as good and sometimes better. getting a chassis to work is about balance not ultimate grip imho.
im sure you'll 'ave im :sxoc:

looked great, must be hard not nailing it and geting sideways all the time, i no its not the fastest way round a track but with that much power it must be so temping every corner:D

Looks like that thing's only using 7.5" wide wheels and what seems to be a relatively std rear brake setup and uprated front brakes. Very impressive if thats the case!

The Evo realy dig bite and drive HARD out of the tighter and medium corners but a large degree of that was pure responsiveness. Im confident that the S14a will give nothing away to the 4wd boys

I nicked a set of full on ear defenders from Gary to drive the car back from Norwich to home, its that noisy!

I was trying my best to keep up with Garys mental Evom, hanging the back out all the time would have resulted in him dissapearing big time  Im up for a bit of sideways when Im not so intent on trying to keep up with something though

Fair play nice driving! Can i have a go?

No :p Although the passenger seat is always open, if anyone sees the car at track anywhere then just ask for a passenger ride if you want one, dont be shy :)

Is that Lamborghini's and Vipers you were overtaking in that vid

No, I wish!

Nice driving  Can't wait for your S14a project to finish :smitten:

Ill get Kev to book me into the track day we sort for you if at all possible

Schooled by and Evo with less power? Garys car was a minimum of 50bhp up on the Skyline, if not more like 80. No ones stopping you starting your own business ;)

Is the car competing in EDC?

And awesome was how it looked and went at Donnington  :D

Wish I'd have known you where taking passengers at Japfest, I'd have loved to have seen your lines in Session 3 to see what I could have learned after Session 2. (a large amount probably).

I presume the Evo weighs quite a bit less than your 33, Bren?
Considering how the Evo was...going away out of the corners, I'm well impressed with your driving, keeping it so close. I'd have stacked it, hard. :D

bren
30-07-2007, 08:49
Id have thought that the Skyline weighs slightly less than the Evo. The Skylines are around 1400kg as standard I believe and ours is stripped out.

Our Skylines just had a new engine fitted with a new turbo so is running a chunk more power than in the vid with much much better bottom end response  Its also now got stiffer suspension so isnt so arse endy although I want to take it further with maybe 12 kg springs on the front and 8 on the rear rather than the current 8s all round.

But at least you've the Skyline to play with in the mean time. What turbo does it have now?

But at least you've the Skyline to play with in the mean time. What turbo does it have now?

Its a new GT35R with the TD06 turbine housing grafted on. Sadly the turbos faulty and is smoking so Im half way through taking it back off, including chopping out all of the lock wiring that we fitted. I spent ages drilling through bolt heads and Ill not be able to relockwire it without taking the entire manifold assembly off which isnt happening :annoyed:

Where's all the wires in the engine??

Looks good!!

Im glad you noticed that, I chopped all the spare loom out (air con etc) and rerouted through the wheel arch to get it out of sight. I then rerouted the headlight and sidelight wiring behind the headlight  Garys idea, looks clean doesnt it :)

Looks very tasty Bren, when's it going on track again ?

You ought to setup another warehouse next to Gary's!

bren
31-07-2007, 09:42
The turbo was sent off last night, if we get it back before this weekend then it will be running at Santa Pod on Saturday :)

Then its booked in at Brands Hatch on the 14th of August  Then Ive booked a trip to Nurburgring for car and trailer on the 28th of September. Im going to drag the Skyline out there on a trailer and see if I can put some respectable times in

If I could get my staff to come with me then Id move down to Garys

Hope you positioned it so it cant get cut up by the tyre on full compression. I almost rubbed into mine at the corporate Elvington day but just got way with it. Both looms are now up the side of the strut tower rather then under it.
That and ive had to raise my front ride hight :ghey:

bren
31-07-2007, 10:21
Its routed so its well away from the rim. After having the loom on the o/s smoking due to shorting due to being rubbed through by the tyre Im not going to have the same thing happen again :wack:
