I have a couple of annoying cracks in my dash top. Are they repairable or am I going to have to swap the dash out?

I guess it seems that these scratches are simply a no win situation.

Some ideas though -
Burning/melting :D prob make it worse
soldering iron meltin same as above
flame thrower melting same as above

sand down degrease and repaint - will just get scratched again :D

Trim it with some Alcantara, that would get rid of the scratches :wack:

Mines ALOT worse than that, its buggered, but because of my bucket seats, If I want to get wheels in the back they have to go between the seats so it buggers the centre console!

There is stuff out there to do it, might be able to get the parts cheap off ebay. You want something like this. I've not tried it myself, but its the same kind of the the quick car repairers use.

Or you could just wait for an unmarked centre console to come up in the breakers section......

are they deep or just surface scratches? iv heard a few things like black shoe polish or heating with a hairdryer brings the pigment back in the plastic... iv never tried these methods tho.

If you're careful you can use a cigarette lighter to get rid of the worst of the damage.

i thought id heard it done on interior trim, i used a heat gun on my old mk2 golf to bring the bumper plasic back so with thinner plastic on a centre console i imagined a hair dryer would b sufficient, let us know how ppl get on

This didn't quite go as planned, but it might just be my technique.
I used a hair-dryer until it was just about too hot to touch, but I couldn't get the scratches to rub away at all. I then used some dark grey crayon which also made no real difference. I think I'm going to have to try it a bit hotter.
Anyone else fancy having a go on theirs, before I set my car on fire? :wack:
