View Full Version : 40 in a 30. What fines/points?
Just checked some speed camera sites, and have confirmed that the road I got flashed on on monday evening is in fact a 30, when I've always thought it was a 40. (and indeed have done 40 along quite happily without ever being flashed.. :-/ )
Just wondering, if something does come through (which it won't directly to me, considering my car is still registered in Swindon... but I have people there who forward my mail, etc.) basically, if I am faced with having to face upto this..
What fine or points might I be looking at?
I was doing 40 pretty much on the dot.
Cheers.
If the camera is working (bearing in mind only 1 in 8 are!) then I expect it would be 3 points and £60. :(
Probably 3 points £60 fine - that's what i got for 50 in a 30, mind...
And if they do issue a NIP, and it goes to Swindon.. and I.. don't get it..
Will they forget about it and let me off? ;)
Ever the hopeful, D :D

Oh and then fine you. :)
I'd say £60 & points, std issue wrist slap.

Funnily enough a few years ago it was a 40mph D. Victoria ave yeah?
Same with the two lane road going into Moston, that's a 30 now too! I think it changed due to subsidence from the new motorway.
No reason really, they just slowed it down. But the thing with Victoria is that it's so long and wide (like my c**k:D ) it feels very odd to drive at 30. Like on a motorway when the variable speed limit says 50mph-fog, when there's no fecking fog!
Hope it was just a rogue flash matey, good luck.:)

I thought some areas were piloting driver 're-education' programmes as an alternative to getting points. You have to demonstrate you've seen the error of your ways and will drive like a Vicar:(

It's always been a 40 to my knowledge. The A62 from Oldham to Manchester.. but it appears not. Funny thing was, my best mate and I have argued about whether it was a 30 or a 40, and until Monday night, I'd stood by my belief it was 40, heh.
D'oh.
D - where about was the speed camera on the A62? (I used to be on that road every day - Stoke-->Manchester!! :( I don't think the ones at the Failsworth end don't work, but I've heard that the grey one going out of Manchester (opposite some flats I think) catch lots of drivers out.
Coming out of Manchester, just after a bridge (there's a little dodgy tyre place on the manchester-bound side..) it's not particularly hidden..
The flats and things are on the other side of the road a bit before you get to the bridge..
Heres to hoping..
SP30 4 u then!
I Did 48 on a 3 lane section of dual carriage( thought it woz 40, not that that helped) & got buztad by the fuzz leaning out from behind a building with a speed cam... got 3 pointz & £60 fine.
Yeh, thats the bugger D. My mate who I used to work with says that ones a pain. Let's hope it had no film in. Some of the speed limits in place are rediculous. 40mph is adequate for a road like that.
Oh well. I'll notify the people in Swindon that if anything comes through for them to send it to me asap. I guess..
What was that trick about points disappearing off your license when you send it away to have addresses changed?.. ;)
