Might be fun, who's up for it? Richseal suggested Aldon Automotive in Dudley.
I don't mind organising it, I just need to know how many are interested, and when u'd prefere to do it :)

Errr can I bring my Scirocco, 'cos I think the Weber I put on needs re-jetting...
Oh, OK then... is that my coat there on top of that pile?
;):)
Cheers, Phil
Go on then, you've twisted my arm!
I'd like to know if I'm actually hitting standard power and I assume they'll check the fueling too?
RichSeal
15-01-2003, 15:43
:D cool, I was hoping we could get one going. Anymore for it?
RichSeal
15-01-2003, 16:08
:( Ok - just called them and it don't look too promising.
They need around 15 cars and its £15 if you pay cash, if you want a reciept add the VAT on ;)
The down side is, that the guy who normally does it is off sick and they don't know when they could do a saturday and.....
He claims the rollers they have are only reliable up to 250bhp at the wheels. Any higher than that at the wheels thier rollers don't like it too much and can give in-accurate figures. For most of us that might not be a problem. I know I'm not sticking out that much power at the wheels.
But it is pretty cheap. You will get 1, possibly 2 runs. The guy I spoke to reckons that after that the power will drop off for the car anyway.
So what do you think?
I'd still go - there's no rush so we could book a saturday a while in advance. £15 sounds right:)
The mitsubishi FTO guys have been down there a few times I think, saw a couple of reports on rr days there on their websites.
I won't get anywhere near 250 so that's not a prob either

RichSeal
15-01-2003, 22:28
I asked if they could tune the car, but they reckon that there is not much you can alter on a 200sx as its all done in the chip. So no, they wont adjust anything on the day as its just a power run. I would hope they would tell you if something was wrong tho!!

:D ttt
A Saturday out in Dudley. Who could resist
Yeah, I'm up for it as long as it's on a weekend when I'm in the UK. Probably have the least power of anybody but it's something I've always wanted to do :)
Edited cos I forgot something
If we can do 2 runs I'd like to try one with and without the boost restrictor to measure the difference.
RichSeal
21-01-2003, 13:56
ok, we seem to be getting some good interest. Does anyone have any preference for the date? I'll give them a call later to see what dates are available.
You're right JB, who could resist a day out in Dudlaaayyyy:)
Don't worry you won't be the lowest power there as my car is standard too.
Rich, no preference for dates here as long as it's a weekend
Yeah, I'm also not bothered about the date as long as it's a weekend. I might be able to get 1 or 2 mates to come aswell if non 200's are allowed.

MattyGee

a weekend would be ace for me also :)
RichSeal
22-01-2003, 15:08
OK - just talked to the guy at Aldon, rr day is no problem - even with just the 7 of us they will do it :D
The bad news is that the guy who usually does is has problems working saturdays right now cos his wife is ill. They can only do the rr day on a sat so it don't mess with usual business. He reckons he will be able to get one set up in the next couple of months tho.
That ok for everyone?
MattyGee

hmm... not sure. I think they are prolly 2wd only, as I would have thought 4wd would be set up to take more power! I'll give them a call tomorrow.
Does anyone know if my car, being an auto, has any bearing on whether the rollers will give a true measure of the cars power?
RichSeal
23-01-2003, 12:24
Just called them, 2wd only.
As for the auto thing, I think they have to "lock" the box in gear so it don't kick down, but I think you'll get ok readings.
Are there only 7 people who want to come to this?????
I'm definately up for it and possibly 1 mate, the others got a scooby so no good for him. I will let you know about my mate (don't worry his car shouldn't be faster!)
Jody
Depends on when it is. But i could well be up for it :D

check out skidz car in the for sale section (260bhp s14a)
too many miles for my liking, no offence skidz, looking for one thats done less than 30000miles, and i dont think id be safe going from 90BHP FWD to 260BHP RWD... it'd be just asking for trouble.
MattyGee
31-01-2003, 16:01
very sensible mate :)
they can be a handful when your getting used to them (i had a 205 gti 1.6 before mine)
As long as it's a weekend I'm up for going. It would be nice to see what it's really pushing out. I live next to donington park and have no idea how to get there so I'd need some help.
Cheers
Luke

Could well be interested in a rr session now I've got a new clutch in :D
Was thinking about going to europarts in SOT but would be better with afew fellow 200's
When and where would it be?

I would imagine a few people on this thread would attend, might be a bit too far for some of the more southern chaps but a few northeners might travel down to Stoke
I'd come......:D
I suggest you make your enquiries and perhaps start a new thread to guage interst more accurately

The more power readings you get the more accurate you will be able to get the power figure
Stoke sound's good to me. I love that A50 :D

OK, if this europarts thing doesn't work I've got Hamish Lindsey Motorsport who said they would like to do a 200sx day. They need 10 cars and reckon their dyno is good for 375 at the fly. They have never had a 200sx trouble the rr yet, lets see if we can ;) Phatty, you wanna try this??? :D
They are in bromsgrove.
