Following this thread
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=287116

My mate had his Viper SVA'd and it failed on a couple of silly little things, so had to rebook another test, so he went for the re-test yest' and it past, but as he left the SVA centre a speeding boy racer in a R32 golf decided to make love with the back of him. The golf owner tryed to swerve round him but cliped the rear quater and buried itself into the rear wheel, which forced my mate across the road hitting a parked lorry.

The area he was driving in was a 12mph area as it was on an industrial estate, as you can see from the damage he was deff speeding, as it takes a lot to snap a top wishbone and bend the wheel in that far, let alone push it far enough to hit a lorry and damage it.

We phoned up to get a price on parts today, and just on parts that we can see are damaged it came to £20,000 and thats without stuff we cant see yet....

I think its border line on being writen off, the car was insured for £60,000 as its a limited edition number #200/of/200, but we are waiting on insurance companys now, here's some pics of the damage

Its taken him 6-7 month from buying it getting it shiped, getting it ready for the sva, etc and when it passes, its not on the road for even a mile and it gets smashed.

He's really gutted, but he said if it is a write off he'll go to america and buy a brand new one, and i get to go with him to help choose.

Really unlucky, what a shame :(

I don't think it will be a write off though, its not 'that' damaged, and is certainly repairable. Hopefully it hasn't damaged the chassis from where one of the rear arms has broken/bent. Hate to know what the 2 rear quarters cost, along with a door skin will cost :(

It wont get written off if it 100% the other persons fault! Your friend can insist its put 100% right at no expense.

I know it doesnt look "that" bad in the pics but its moved the b piller back and inch and has damaged and bent alot of the chassis.

The rear quarters are £1200 each side, doors £2000 each, bottom sill are £5000 each (which is s*!t seeing as its the smallest panel)

Gutting. :(

That's a stunning looking car, I'd be seriously pissed to go through the process he has for it to get written off before really driving it.

Yeah I thought that too, also as it's a bona fide limited edition it just makes the case stronger for forcing repair as its not an easily replaceable car being that A: its a Viper not a Vectra & B: its 1 of only 200 and possibly one of only a handfull if not the only one in the uk.

Gutting to see, I hate it when classics / special editions get damaged. What a nightmare losing it so quickly. The responsible guys insurance is going to take a hammering. Last claim, 30K+ etc, ouch!

RTLKyuubi
15-05-2007, 23:39
Since its so rare with it being limited edition, i would get it repaired.

Ryan.

Ouch! Bet your mate was in tears! I would be! I hope the damn german box was severely damaged too. As for what you say, it was entirely the fault of the Golf force his insurance company to repair it! As Marko says, as its a limited ed. this should count a long way toward getting it repaired not written off.

When will people realise that speed limits in built up areas are there for a reason!!! Obviously the limit on a motorway is there for a reason too - NOT to be ignored *cof**cof* ;)

to be honest though, assuming the claim goes through the car will look as good as new after repairs! sure its a bit of downtime, but if there were any scabby bits on the car before, those will all be repaired at no cost to your mate! a few new tyres probably too :D

I know mate, my mates in 2 minds which road to go down, get it repaired or get a new one, by the way he was talking last night i think he's going to repair it.

As for the

but if there were any scabby bits on the car before.

I wouldn't have been able to control myself. I wouldn't have even said anything, i would have got out and killed the stupid f**king dumb ass c**t right there!!!

I cant beleive it. That is so shocking! What a stupid pr**k, messing about in his pile of crap, prob thinking he's the best thing on the road :censored: :censored: . I would be inside for the next 24 years if that was my car!!

Looking back at the damage, i see you've wrote it has a bent B piller - surely thats a write off then?! I wouldn't have thought the repair shop would weld in a new one would they???? It would legally be a re-shell wouldn't it? I didnt think you was aloud to repair bent pillers as that is the main support?!.

The car has a space frame Chassis, with Fibre galss body, "bent" maybe missaligned panel at best. At worst, part of the frame will need to be replaced :)
