As above my reverse light doesn't work, have Googled it but some people seem to say it is a failure some say it isn't?

IIRC it's an age thing. Anything build since 1970 something needs them.

AFAIK, you don't need a reversing light for the MOT, but if one is fitted it needs to be working.

Cheers for the response same things said here as everywhere else I found through Google :wack: the government MOT site is too vague to be sure as well :annoyed:
Edit: I'll take the MOT testers word i think
You dont need one and they dont test it even if you do :)

Cool, must admit I can't recall them ever testing it and i must have watched about 15 MOT's.

Mine hasn't worked on my 205 for about 8 years and it's never failed on it!

Cool, any idea why your's doesn't work?
Haven't really had a look at mine but it's also a 205 GTi so wondering if it might be a common fault...
Ive never had anyone check a reverse light and pretty sure Ive asked my mate who is a tester, and he has said its not needed :)
The fault is most likely to do with the switch at the gearbox. Having driven a car without a reverse light, it made it real difficult to make it obvious what type of manouevre I was about to attempt in a London City side road. So I'd recommend trying to get it fixed from a saftey perspective.

Almost certainly the switch on the gearbox. For some stupid reason Peugeot decided that waterproof connectors were a pointless luxury. :annoyed:

lol that's pants, I like to work on my car in the rain  so I might need to go round waterproofing a few connections.
