Right ive just had a butchers on apex and they want £53 for a manifold to head gasket!!!!! HOW MUCH!?!?

Lol apart from nissan (who will prob cost more!) Does anyone know of a place that sells gaskets for my 14a nice and cheap?

Gaskets needed :-

Manifold to Head
Manifold to turbo
Turbo to elbow
and possibly elbow to downpipe

I can get copper washers and copper nuts through work (am building a collection!!) and i dont fancy paying £100 for a gasket set cos im a cheapskate

Coming back from reading last night the manifold to turbo bolts decided to work loose and start to blow... me being oblivious singing my heart out to the likes of the red hot chilli peppers only noticed when my ABS light came on and my clocks went doolally!!! When i eventually pulled into the nearest service station to have a butchers, i found that the extremely hot gasses escaping from the manifold decided to partially melt the wiring loom to the ABS pump!
I tried to do 1 of the bolts up on the turbo and 1 of the studs decided to snap :annoyed: great... So i need to start the lot from scratch!
So on saturday i need to get me 2 of them stupid bloody 30amp tower fuses! And start a mission to remove the manifold, turbo and ABS pump AND repair my melted loom!! :annoyed:
Dont get me wrong i love the car to bits but its been off the road more than on it since ive owned it and am not impressed... I knew it was going to be quite high maintenance but this much?! sheesh! lol ahh well It may sound like a banger car but it still pulls in the looks when its parked up! So my love still outweighs the reliability :smitten:

Anyway if anyone does know a place to get some cheaper gaskets please let me know muchos appreciatos!

Unless someone new's come along during my year out then the Nissan stuff is actually the best gaskets you'll find by a long shot
I've no idea on prices so shop around, but unless you like doing gasket swaps then I'd say get the Nissan kit

You won't hear people say crazy stuff likt this often though :wack:

You shouldn't need to replace the head to manifold gasket when doing the turbo gasket change

but you gotta take the manifold off from the head, so you gonna have to have a new gasket!

Nope, it's a multi layer jobbie so reseals fine :) . I reused the new one I bought twice.
And the original was re-used a couple of times too - infact I still have the original gasket from my last car - I'd be perfectly happy fitting it to the 180 if needed as it's still perfectly servicable  (if dusty ;) )

i always used to make a point of putting a new gasket on there, but last time (year ago), felt cheep, so reused it, its never blown. you will need new tabwashers though, would also recommend using the pukka studs/nuts/bolts.

Ahh thats good to know then... in which case i can keep it on the cheap!! Ill get a new mani - turbo gasket and a turbo - elbow gasket too....
Mercedes use the same size and thread studs but they also use locking copper nuts on theirs which dont come loose! and as i said im collecting these at work as we speak ;)
U lot have just made my life 1 hell of alot easier!:sxoc:

Thank you very much!

Ordered mine yesterday... told the gasket was coming in for today.. went in 1st thing this morn... "oh we havent had a delivery this morning... gona have to send someone down to bristol to get the delivery but they wont be back in time we shut the shop so u'll have to wait untill monday"

pfff great... so my car sounds like a tractor and is a potential fire hazard.. so its either car off the road or no long distance journeys.... fantastic! :annoyed:
