View Full Version : Parents want to buy a "sports car"...suggestions please!
They have a budget of 10-12k. Mileage for them is an issue, so preferably a car that is slightly younger. They would prefer a 2 seater car, but would probably consider 2+2 coupes.
I've suggested a few things
Nissan S15
Merc SLK
Honda S2000 (The favourite so far)
Toyota Supra/MR2/MR-S
Mazda RX-7 and MX-5
Lotus Elise
Wild Cards:
TVR Cerbera/Chimera
R32/R33 GTR
Vauxhall VX220
Anything else i may have missed out?
Depends on their driving ability and how fast they want to go. Suggestion off the top of my head, mx5. Proper "sports car" That should be easy to get the best out of.
Parents when having to share a coupe tend to go for
mx-5's
MGF's
and hyundai coupes

Has to be the honda or the mx5, being realistic and sensible, ticking all the boxes and stuff...
The first thing that came to my mind was the MX-5 but my dad has to drive this too and he thinks its too girly haha.
The S2000 seems to be winning them over the most...now wheres that turbocharger kit you can buy for it...

It's pretty funny this.
I see lots of these posts... People want sports cars. They have plenty of money to spend but they never actually want a car that has any balls, just something easy to drive that looks sporty.
Are they actually sporty drivers? If not, they will hate almost every sports car as the ride is harsh, they're loud and thirsty.
S2000 I say
Seconded. It's like a grown up MX-5.

IIRC the S2000 does extremely well in the owner satisfaction surveys too

So thats confirmed then, if you mum and dad want to spend £10-12k on a sports car then they should buy a Honda S2000:sxoc:

RX7 (can get a really good one for 12K)
S2000
supra with BPU
350z 's are starting to come in a whisper over £12000 and would think it would be an ideal balance of comfort and speed for a more mature driver:thumbs: [young ones as well]

9. Please refrain from using Txt 5p33k or slang. We expect a good level of English to be used and posts to be clearly written.
