View Full Version : DIY body kit painting checking..
Right so I coarse sanded it to get alot of the shite and old paint back then 400 gritted it to smooth it down, run some turps across to clean it all up and primered it.
What is it people do next generally before applying the top coat ? I'm using mixed up stuff in rattle cans from autopaint atm :)
Thought I'd ask before ploughing in headlong to the coloured coat.
I did my skirts and spats myself, after primer i left it a day then used 1200grit wet and dry sandpaper to make it smooth. Then came painting. This is how mine came out, colour match is slightly out but finish is surprisingly good for rattle cans!:

cool :) how did you go about your match ? I'm off to autopaint for a code then shade match. Hoping it will be accurate enough to get away with it.

You need to flatten down more... otherwise you will see sanding marks under the paint
Step it up to 1200 grit
I just bought a few cans of Nissan 526 red from halfords. I am more than pleased with the result considering it only cost me about £20 do spray it all.
Ah right :) I'm going to autopaint get some rattle cans made up to the shade they come out at 6.95 for a tin so should be pretty cheap too :)
