Now that my project is approaching completion it wil have to remain outside for a few months between shows. I need to get a cover for it but can't seem to find one that will fit. Has anyone used one for another make and model?

:Plug: i can recommend a company that make them, they charge 30 quid to come out and measure your car so it takes in bigger spoilers, ariels etc...mine cost 150 quid for the escort mk6 witha cossie spoiler, fits around the mirrors, goes right under both bumpers with straps with clips on to hold it on, they are also water resistant and breatheable...

defo give them a ring mate, you will just be wasting money ona cheap one from argos that dont fit right...

how quick are they to put on and take off? would it become too much of a pain to do it daily? :)

I wouldn't bother if its on and off daily, theres not much advantage in having one!the car will still see all the elements, and in the frost it would be more hassle as the cover will have to be dried every day etc!

pretty quick to take off and put on, they enen put a label in so you know what is the front. it takes longer to fold it up and put in the bag!!!!!

I live on quite a busy road and lack a garage, so if i wash the car sunday morning it'l get a coating of dust on it by monday morning :( so its mainly to stop the car getting dusty over night then to protect from the weather :)

do you need to dry the covers if they get wet before storing them away then? :)

ps. screw putting it in the bag, i'l just chuck it in the boot :wack:

The only reason I need one is becuase the car is not a dailey drive and only for fun. During show season it will only come out once and a while but its so much hassle to get the car back in the garage I though I would buy a cover. in the winter the car will be returned to the garage until March comes round again.

Chuck the car in the garage! problem solved :D
If you are on a busy main road,is it near a pub or park? the reason i ask is that my main fear of these covers is that some drunks or kids my find it funny to light it on fire,or just nick it

access to the garage is blocked, and the garage is too small anyway :( so it sits on the driveway..

we do get a few drunks, but i dont think we get that sort of trouble. nicking it or removing it for fun would be an issue :indiff: but i dont think they are easily flamable? atleast not the ones made for external storage? :)

would be nice to have one anyway i think

I live in the middle of know where and the car will behind locked gates down the side of the house when its not being used. The problem is it gets very windy and we have problems with dirt and rubbish as we are on a main road, so I was just hoping to give the car as much protection as possible. Its not pratical for me to put the car in the garage every night. Although there is plenty of room, I will have to keep driving over the garden.

just to ressurect and old thread. I bought this cover for mine since my neighbours dog decided he liked to jump over my car. It fits and seems thick enough to protect against doggy claws!

this is the premium one but there is a 'normal' for £25 but i think it's thinner.

Car covers are only worth using on a car that is going to be perfectly clean when you fit the cover. You'll scratch the paint otherwise.

Moisture still get's inside btw from condensation. It won't keep the car completely dry. The plasticy ones trap water underneath so you need a breathable cover. Removing a cover in frost is quite hard as the cover sticks to the car.

I got a breathable one for my car from the states. It wasn't cheap though...

Also you need to maintain the car cover. You can get mouldy blooming visible on the windows when the car cover needs a wash. I wash mine every few months by washing it on the car and waiting for it to dry and then turn it inside out and wash it again. You look firkin stupid washing a covered up car though :wack:

That only works in the summer though when its hot, so in a month or so I think I'll have to get it washed industrial style.

So in summary, if you want your car to stay perfectly dry then use a garage or a carcoon. The main benefit of the cover is it keeps the car clean. My car can look freshly polished a few weeks down the line.

cool, nice info. Got mine so my neighbours dog doesn't scratch it anymore if it climbs on it. Not sure if it will work but better than a respray!

will be nice not to get loads of the crap off the trees on it like normal though
