Anyone know a good place to get such things? Nissan want 600 quid for a new one. Car is only worth about a grand.
(no part number yet)

Update: part number is 237101U105
There is a guy who posts on the Micra Sports Club forum under nicon_23 who is fitting a 2.0l Renault engine in his Micra. He probably has an ECU that he has removed which he may be willing to part with :)

May be worth posting something in the for sale/wanted section.
Cheers,

Thanks, it's my sister's car she'll contact you if she couldn't find one.
BTW - do the part numbers match? Hers is a 1.0 litre 'P' reg "shape"

its a 1.0 16valve M reg but the engins are exactly the same i only want £100 plus p+p
Just curious - why do Nissan say she needs a new ECU? I don't know anyone who has had to replace their ECU yet
What's the problem?

It's completely dead.
Shes had to have the immobiser reset a couple of times before. Thats what we thought happened this time. They say it needs replacing and I don't know any better so....
Having said that, nissan wanted to replace my turbo when I had a cracked intercooler pipe so...
When you say dead, do you mean nothing at all happens when you turn the key?

She says she's emailed you :)
John - I think it just cranks but wont fire, I'm not sure as she's 150 miles away so I can't go and look at it.
Only asking 'cos I had a similar problem on our '94 Micra. The car would turn over but not fire, as though no fuel was getting through. The fuel pump fuse was OK and the pump was working though. In the end it turned out to be another fuse. The injection system is fed through a fuse in the box directly in front of the battery. We found that water had got in and the fuse had corroded in the holder. Cleaned it all up, replaced the fuse and the car fired up first time.
May be worth getting her to have a quick check, but I'd assume that the dealer would have tried all this ;)
What when they could get £600 for a new ECU?? I think not ;)
Dave
Hi, its Sarah here, with the bust ECU.
Nicon_23 - i have emailed you, but haven't had a reply as yet, im hoping it got to you okay. Provided that the part numbers match, I definitly want your ECU! Please let me know.
John W - thanks for the info. Im convinced that there is another way to fix my Micra, but unfortunatly it looks like i have to put my trust in the garage.....:(
