Flippin' quick fit wanted £78 to put 4 tyres on four wheels. No jacking up the car and no disposal of the old tyres. I'd just turn up with them in the boot and take them all away again. Bloke insisted that it was important what car it was...... weirdo!

What is a good price? The place across the road from us will do the lot including balancing and valves for £35

Anyway, if you want to be a pedant about it, it's KWIK fit... ;) :p

There's a garage that ripped me off for the same thing. I saved money on tyres by getting them delivered to me, then went down to have them fitted. The boss said if I just gave the lad some beer tokens they could put the tyres on for me.
When the job was done though he invoiced me for the time spent, and for titanium wheel weights(?WTF?)
All the saving I made on the tyres was gone.

Got my own back though - several of our companies in the area cancelled their contracts with them.

Thats a good price really, there are places out there that will do it for £5 a rim but not many these days so with balancing up to £10 a wheel is about fair as it all takes time to do :)

Go to Ace Tyres - Viking Way industrial estate next time you're in Swansea. will only be £2-3 each.

Cool, they're a local company run by local boys and are across the road too, so that's a winner. I'd rather pump my cash in their direction than kwik fit.

titanium wheel weights.

Ah, the extra light ones! Although to really reduce your unsprung mass you should probably choose carbon fibre. :wack:

It's £5 per wheel where I usually go, or £20 for a set of 5 - mounting and balancing, with you taking the old tyres away.

Try some back-street type places in the yellow pages. Places like Kwik Fit are always a rip off, and they'll probably fit them wrong anyway.

I used to pay £10 a wheel ...... but using my great use of Maths that turns out to be £40 ....... quite often its cheaper just to order from the fitters

You're probably right, although these were on a good offer from camskill - 25% discount special.

Maybe I'll mention it to the place that fits them though, and see if they can get them in.

I paid €50 for 4 tyers fitted and balanced, although the balancing was a load of shite and I had to get them done again:rolleyes:

Certain Peugeot/ Citroen alloys need a special adaptor for the wheel balancer and a few VW models need a special adaptor for the tyre fitting machine  and both take more time to set up :(

So yeah what car is an important factor sometimes

most named placed will be £14.50+ per wheel backstreet places usually around £10, i recently got mine for £30 for all 4 fitted and balanced by a mobile guy, but he was fitting someone elses tyres at the same time.

My mates car ate the front pads on a trip away one summer, with the only local garage being Kwik fit we took it there assuming it would come out a bit expensive.

Yep.

£180...

We wanted pads fitted to get home. They had other ideas, the exhaust was blowing, a tyre was on the limit (so they said...) and they would only change the pads if the disks were changed too.

Unless we were willing to cough up for the lot they said by law they had to put it back together and give it back to us 'untouched' even though by this point it was on a ramp with the 2 front wheels off and bits of brakes off. The bloke kept quoting ISO standards saying he had to do this because of this ISO bla bla.

As we didn't have £180 on us at the time they had a chat over the phone with my mates mum who got them down to £150 by not doing one of the jobs.. the tyre I think.

My localish kwikfit have a bunch of guys very keen to do cashers.. ;) £5 a rim to me - including balancing! Got my elbow back exhaust fitted and including hangers by powerflex etc. for £50 and its solidly put in. They are in Acton - you would even save money if you factored in petrol costs from gilforinnit :)

Nuts :wack:

My local Kwik Fit said they wernt really supposed to just swap tyres.... but i convinced them when i said they were just for the track.

Ended up charging £20 to take the old tyres off, fit new ones and ballence it up, on a Sunday afternoon

I suppose turning up (in a track car...) and talking to someone makes a difference. I did it over the phone.
